[7/17] Tuesday Afternoon, Servants Quarters Common Room

Jul 17, 2007 14:19

What's this? Zim's actually in his assigned dorm building?  Sitting in the common room like a normal human worm baby?

Well, yes. It's raining outside. And he'd forgotten to bathe in paste this morning. So, he sat on the couch munching on what looked like Fun Dip and watching TV. Just until the rain stopped.

The movie on screen was of b-grade and ( Read more... )

Evangeline had to backtrack to make sure she thought she saw what she saw as she passed by the common room. She blinked, leaning in to peek inside and look around. She frowned, her eyes focusing on Zim on the couch.

"You're watching television?" she sounded truly, truly appalled.

"Don't be foolish! Zim is gathering information."

The reply was rather more laid back than usual. Apparently little green men had downtime too. Of sorts.

"Uh-huh," Evangeline came and leaned on the arm of the couch, narrowing her eyes at the TV. "And what exactly are you gathering information on? They have books for that, you know."

Zim scowled around the lik-a-stick in his mouth at her. "That is top secret, earth-monster."

[ooc: That icon is ridiculously cute.]

Evangeline turned her eyes back to Zim in a scowl. "How is it top secret when I could probably just sit here and watch it and figure it out myself?"

"It would be too much for you feeble Earth brain to comprehend," he replied haughtily. It would also be too embarrassing to admit that he was merely waiting out the storm.

[ooc: Hee. I really need to sit down and actually watch all of Negima?! one day.]

"They create this stuff for the sole purpose of entertaining the feeble brain powers and attention spans of modern human pea-brains," Evangeline said around a scowl, but, strange, her eyes were back on the TV set and her feet were kicking a little behind her as she put all her weight on the couch's arm idly. "You won't learn anything there but mindless drivel..."

[[ me, too... XD *goes by books* ]]

Zim shrugged. The guy in the rubber monster suit menaced a scantily clad female. This was possibly why the little aliens plans always failed so spectacularly. Part of the reason anyway.

And then he changed the subject. "Does the horrible rain still fall from the sky?"

"Yup," Evangeline said, distracted by the flashy pictures. What? Television was still a bit fascinating for her, despite her recent allegations. "I like it. Gives the place a much more...ominous tone..."

[[ crashing verah soon, woe ]]

This news seemed to depress him, if you were skilled on picking up on that sort of thing. It could be hard to differentiate between different manners of frowning. "Zim hates it. Hates it so much," he muttered darkly.

[ooc: *tucks you in* :) Slow play is always okay by me.]

"Why?" Evangeline frowned. "For the rain creates a cover where night may fail, where the water pelts down upon your victims and washes away your mark so that you needn't even move to before another fresh prey drifts by, unawares, unassuming, unalarmed..." She grinned. The conversation was getting much too strangely simple and....normal so she had to turn it up a bit.

Zim looked momentarily ill at ease, giving her a strange look (Was it the memory of those fangs that did it? Or the thought of someone learning about his weakness? Or both? Who knows?), and then sniffed haughtily. "That is none of your business, Eva-thing."

"It's Evangeline," she barked out. "Get it right, you stupid little Irken-or whatever the hell it is you call yourself all the time-thing."

Ooh, that was a sore spot.

"Zim is NOT little! I AM A GIANT AMONG MY OWN PEOPLE!"

Lies. All lies.

"Your people," Evangeline said, with a grin as she leaned in over the couch arm again, because if Zim was an apparent giant...well, then, she might have to look more into his culture, because it was so rare to find anything smaller than she was, "must be very tiny, then."

She left the 'tiny and easily squashed' to be said in the sharpness of her grin and the throaty, gleeful little chuckle.

As a matter of fact, Irken social status was based on height. The Tallest ruled based on just that. They were tall. To call some little was a pretty grave insult. And the reason for Zim's sudden agitation.

"The mighty Irken race is not tiny. Mighty Irken empire is mighty!" The Fun Dip was crushed as one very small gloved hand formed a fist.
