This is about Harry Potter and I will cut it because I may give the plot of some of HBP away, but these are my random thoughts an not specifically geared toward book six only.

I think it's a parallel to a lot of things. What we are seeing with the war on terror, what we saw and still see with the AIDS epidemic is so universal among men. It's not just one country or certain people, it's an attitude that cycles and repeats itself throughout history. It's something almost everyone can relate to in one way or another, and that's one reason it's such an incredibly popular series. There are just so many themes and characters on so many levels that people can relate to.
