I like the library. Except when there are stupid little kids here touching things that aren't supposed to be touched, reading books aloud, and are just plain irritatingly bothersome. I don't know the exact reason they are here but, seeing as how I am at the library everyday, I assume that they are getting some sort of "summer schooling" or personal tutoring from some of Grand Valley's finest education students. I usually somewhat enjoy studying in the library, but I enjoy a quiet environment. When these kids are here, they insist on creating enough of a ruckus to irritate even the most patient of college students. The tutors are worse. They recite dull, outdated directions, no doubt regurgitated from an instruction booklet purchased from the neighboring UBS or Brian's Bookstore. They are loud and irritating. Their voices easily penetrate the peaceful humming of the computers and halogen lights. They do not even consider that some people are trying to have a nice peaceful time in the library. They refuse to believe that are being much too boisterous. As I am writing this post, I am sitting across from a female tutee of undetermined age, but she looks to be between the ages of 10 and 16. He lips are far too big for face and her glasses are far too small. And she has problems reading the word binge, and writing 10 complete sentences. After telling a joke, she feels it necessary to say "Get it?"She is loud. FAR too loud. The tutor next to her is female and does not look a day over 45. Or 50. Who can tell nowadays? She is wearing a pink Eeyore shirt and spectacles that can easily be found in the latest Leslie Hall music video. She uses encouraging phrases such as "Keep going girl!" and refers to music as 'tunes.' And she laughs every 3.33 minutes. I will reserve my judgements regarding the tutor. If I am in a crabby mood today, I am blaming the stupid people in the library.
