Question about br tags and textareas?

Can anybody tell me why I keep getting  br tags in my textareas?  This never used to happen before.  Am I doing something wrong?  I thought the code was just [textarea].   Any and all advice, especially from other mods would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not going to be of any help. Those boxes seems to dislike me as well. On a wholly unrelated topic, I've figured out the who/where/when of my femmefest fic.

I'm not sure why, but why don't you use this one:

[textarea cols="20" rows="5"]your text box contents go here[/textarea]

Just change the [] for > < It worked when I used it on my lj as a preview.
