For Christmas I received two gift certificates to Sephora, one from my mother and the other from my brother-in-law's girlfriend Katie.
I've already spent Katie's certificate and the goodies arrived today. I purchased items I've been longing to try, and I'm actually very surprised by my purchases.
These are products from the
Carol's Daughter product line. I remember hearing about the founder during a documentary I saw in 2004 about successful women. Her story was very beautiful, and I felt so inspired by her interview that I remembered feeling like
Lisa Price was the kind of woman that I wanted to support.
It's been a long time now and I've still not tried her product line. Although her
Almond Cookie collection is what I am most interested in trying, it is sold out much of the time in the specific products I want.
I started with hair products first, having already tried virtually every hair product on the market between my mother's profession and my own ventures into beauty supply stores.
Black Vanilla Leave-In Conditioner is likely to be my least favorite of the products. I could end up being pleasantly surprised, though. I plan on using it as an all-over leave-in product after conditioning my ends as usual in the shower. The reason for this is the consistency of the product. Its color and texture remind me of iced tea, and when the bottle is tipped from side to side it sloshes around as if thinner than water. Conditioner tends to have a richness to it, even in the lightest of formulas. However, it has an exotic smell to it that I love and seems as if being light as it is will be a benefit. The scent makes me think of what a clove and spice scented chapstick would be like... and although that may not sound appealing, I think that catching a hint of it when I turn my head will be lovely. I'm looking forward to using this product.
Tui Herbal Shampoo is exciting to me. With a similar color and texture to the previously mentioned conditioner, this shampoo has a great benefit over other shampoo products in my shower. I poured a tiny amount into my palm and with a splash of water brought it to a gentle lather. There are few foaming agents in this shampoo which will prevent my hair from becoming dry. The scent is my least favorite part, which has something of a candy-necklace-meets-sour-mix-and-cough-syrup resemblance. But shampoo rarely stays with me during the day, I'm not worried about it. It's sweet and earthy smelling, really.
Khoret Amen Hair Oil is a fancy answer to a similar product that I use daily now. I'm probably going to be using it on wet hair when I wear it curly and allow it to air dry, and very sparingly on my ends when I am wearing it straight. It has a strong lavender scent which reminds me of the spa (in a good way, ha). I'm very happy with this purchase.
Mimosa Hair Honey is my absolute favorite. This product is amazing. Immediately after smelling the product I was reminded of the
chocolate oranges my mother buys for me and my sister every Christmas. It has the exact consistency of one of my favorite products,
Palmer's Cocoa Butter. (I use that moisturizer daily, on my face, hands and body. I can't live without it.) I pulled a portion of my hair into a segment on the side of my face and smoothed a small amount through it. My hair was glossy and soft, with no greasy residue. I can only imagine how nice it will look on all of my hair. Any type of hair texture could benefit from this, but curly or wavy hair will probably respond to it with a defined improvement.
Buy it,
buy it,
buy it, it's a little jar of heaven.
And to all of the men who scrolled through this feeling bored, or that read it and feel cheated, I'm sorry. (The icon should have warned you!) This is for you.
