The cat asked me to put makeup on him again. So I did. (I washed it off, don't worry.)
Mike made a bet with his friend Jeff that they would both grow big ugly mustaches together. I came home from the mall and was telling him a story and he was at the kitchen counter with his back turned to me. There were several points of the story which were hillarious and he would laugh, but not turn around. I became curious and tilted my head to see his face. "I KNOW WHY YOU'RE NOT TURNING TO LOOK AT ME YOU SON OF A BITCH!"
Then I went running for my camera and would not leave him alone.
At one point I could swear that he seemed to think the mustache (or what little of it there was) gave him a license to be a dick, so I called him on it. He thought it was pretty funny. I did not.
He wore that awful thing all day and then it came time to get ready for my friend Kieu's wedding.
These are my sexy new shoes that I had ready for the occasion. I painted my toes red to match the underside of the shoes.
I put myself through a typical routine.
Mike waited until just before we would have grabbed our keys and headed out to shave. Off went the fuzzy little lip warmer he had been so proud of all day.
I got yelled at for this one. Haha.
Then we headed off to the reception, which was at
Shanghai Chinese Restaurant. There we met Steph and Chris, the couple that I'm dating. Or something like that.
We walked in and couldn't believe the decorations, and the hours (and money) that had been spent preparing the room.
Steph and Chris got cozy at the table.
The wedding cake and the children from the wedding party fighting.
Kieu and Minh.
She was absolutely glowing, she looked so beautiful. This was her first of four dresses.
Mike, letting me know how he feels about my constant photography. He's so romantic.
The centerpiece on every table.
Kieu and Minh came up to speak at the start of the reception.
The emcee. This man was a hoot.
After many, many photos Kieu slipped off to a room to change to her traditional gown.
She visited table after table for more photos and toasts as we all started on the four course appetizer and the eight course dinner.
But you all know me and Chinese food... so I mostly just watched.
The newlyweds at their table.
The woman Mike and I wanted to leave eachother for.
Kieu handled the evening with such grace. She fluidly went from one stage of the night to the next. She seemed so calm and engaged in the moment.
Dress number three.
Time to cut the cake! And while doing so, one of the only english songs played, which was Celine Dion's version of Beauty and the Beast. Steph insisted on serenading me, and I thought I'd capture the moment with a photo.
But I was way too close to her face.
Cake cutting.
They fed cake to eachother, but very gently and gracefully. There were forks and plates involved, even.
Chris and Steph exchanged rings off of one of the party favors.
Dress number four.
This was the dress she wore for their first dance.
And then she let loose and pulled me and Steph up with her.
I could tell that she was so happy that we had come to her wedding.
Congratulations, Kieu and Minh!
... oh yes. I forgot to mention the frighteningly strong and relatively questionable cognac. WOW.
