Only 30 minutes on the computer, gah!

Three days ago I drove myself four hours to Turtle Camp, where I will be chilling out for the next three weeks. We're on an island in the middle of the Mississippi River, but our camp site is right in the middle of a huge RV park. The main project is to moniter nesting of painted turtles, and the ladies just crawl up out of the river and do their thing in the middle of a bunch of RV's! It's so weird!

I'm also on a project documenting reptiles in a sand prarie, which is a really sweet habitat. It's seriously like a prarie and a desert had a baby. I'm supposed to be gathering box turtles and hog-nosed snakes while I'm out there, but so far I've just gotten a bunch of prickers on my pants. It happens.

The high schoolers I'm watching are all very special, some in a good way and some...well...Anyway, I like hanging out with them. And it's so awesome to be around so many people who like science-y stuff!! (not that I don't like hanging out with you losers...I mean) Yeah, another undergrad played around with a dissection kit when she was a kid! And I thought I was messed up!
