Character Information
Character Name: Optimus Prime
Fandom: Transformers!
Timeline: Transformers G1 - IDW - directly after Spotlight: Optimus Prime
Character History:
[Since IDW is a strange mixture of both G1 and DW and has yet to go into Optimus Prime's early beginnings, his history will be a mesh of both, which can freely be altered should another character come in involved with said history from that 'verse.]
In the beginning, Optimus Prime was no more then a simple laborer with a kind spark named Optronix. Created at some point during Sentinel Prime's reign before the war began, Optronix was relatively young when the decent to anarchy and the energon crisis began to rise on Cybertron. Of course, being who he was at spark, Optronix couldn't simply sit by and do nothing. So at some point before Megatron's full rebellion started, Optronix, along with his friends Ariel/Elita and Dion/Magnus joined up with the Prime's defense forces, and were present for the funeral for Bumper and Fastback.
The war continued, and Optronix was eventually placed under Kup's command, where at some point he took the name of Optimus. Optimus's natural leadership abilities and skill in battle grew with the war, and he often helped recruit more skilled Cybtronians for the cause. Once Sentinal Prime and his oft-unmentioned successor Zeta Prime were killed, however, Optimus went from a simple if noteworthy recruit to the head of the entire Autobot military once the matrix chose him for the next Prime though unknown means. Optimus hardly felt himself to be worthy of (or particularly wanting) such a title, but accepted, and was transformed into Optimus Prime. The transition was rough, but thanks to the skill and advice of other bots, as well as Optimus's own innate skill, he quickly grew to fill the role...no matter how it chafed at times.
As the war dragged on, Cybertron itself was nearly destroyed by Thunderwing's experiments. Optimus fought side-by-side with the rogue gladiator-turned-despot Megatron to attempt to stop the crazed scientist, and once he was temporarily subdued, subsequently stopped Megatron from destroying the entire planet itself to make sure Thunderwing's threat was properly ended. With the planet rendered unlivable thanks to the fallout from those events, the war continued off-planet, with the Autobot forces scattered amongst the stars. Eventually, Thunderwing was recovered and revived, and Optimus called in the Wreckers to return to Cybertron in response to a distress signal from the Calabi-Yau. Rescuing Jetfire's team from Bludgeon’s followers, Optimus and the others assaulted Thunderwing on the scientist's recommendation, forcing the Ultra-energon empowered creature to burn through its energy reserves and deactivate itself. With one threat down, Optimus next traveled to earth for the first time after a getting a signal from Ironhide about worrying Decepticon activity on the planet.
Reformatting himself as a earth semi truck, Optimus quickly got filled in on the earth situation. Coming into conflict with the Decepticons in Brasnya Optimus was forced to fight a Ore-13 empowered Megatron, and despite putting up a good fight was beaten to near deactivation. Thankfully, Optimus was able to transfer his spark to his trailer drone unit through infraspace, and Megatron fell for the ploy. Once he realized the ore-13 was the same substance as the ultra-energon that powered Thunderwing, Optimus was able to return and have Megatron worn down by sheer relentless force, beating the Decepticon into submission.
Earth quickly became the least of the Prime's worries, however. While transferring his spark through infraspace, Optimus detected the presence of another Prime - Nova Prime, though to be long since dead and emanating a palpable sense of menace. Optimus left earth to seek out a meeting with the ancient bot Omega Supreme, looking for answers. Only then did he find out about the previous Prime's desire for expansion and conquest, as well as the unexpected addition of the experimental creation of the first gestalt, Monstructor. After aiding Omega in defeating the maddened combiner, Optimus was properly horrified about both revelations, and had Monstructor's limbs shipped off to a holding facility, where he swore they would be helped. With the legacy of his predecessors more tarnished then he could have ever suspected, Prime headed back to earth with a heavy spark...
Only to end up somewhere far other then his destination.
Character Personality:
Optimus Prime is a noble, self-sacrificing bot who always tries to do the right thing, even if that makes things more difficult for himself. He's a fairly young bot, for a Prime - for lack of a definite timeline, it can be said that Optimus is in his 'prime' - though he is far more mature and war-wary thanks to his innate nature and the stresses of being Prime. Though sometimes wary of the role, Optimus is more often then not grateful and proud of the ability to defend his homeworld and people that his position has given him, and he would never back down out of any selfish desires for respite.
Despite the dubious moralities of past Primes, Optimus Prime is honorable to the core, and would sooner die then go against what he thinks it right.
Powers: He's Optimus Prime. First and foremost, he is a Transformer of considerable power and skill. Most obviously, he can turn into a truck, or a truck-like vehicle in Cybertronian mode. He is capable of skilled hand-to-hand combat and weapons use, both with his (sometimes far more numerous than should be allowed) blasters and energy blade. Because he is a Prime, he is often more powerful then his size should seemingly allow, but he can be brought down by sufficient numbers or certain enemies with enough firepower (ie: Megatron).
He is a skilled leader, capable of making hard decisions in time of war and rallying the troops with his strength of conviction and nobility. His seemingly endless faith can at times be shaken and damaged, but he always appears to rally himself back.
He also has two separate 'drone units' that serve as extensions to his consciousness when they are out of subspace and in use. His trailer section can temporarily house his consciousness and spark if his main body is too damaged to function, and his smaller mobile 'Roller' unit serves as a scout. Both can serve as weapons bases, with Roller the more mobile of the two.
Most importantly, Optimus Prime is the holder of the Matrix of Leadership, the MacGuffin ancient artifact of Primus that holds an immense, unknown power, and transformed him into a Prime. Its powers are never used lightly.

First person:
This place...worries me. The very existence of alternate universes is concerning enough, but the existence of a singular place within those universes that... steals people away from their home worlds - from their very existences... I understand there is likely more going on in this then I can properly see or appreciate, but this is more then anyone should have the right to mess with.
Still, it is not my job to play the interdimensional police force. My first concern should be for my fellow Autobots from my home universe, should any of them be stuck in this place with me. After that... We'll see what I can do.
Third Person:
Optimus settled himself down into the command chair of his small transport with a grunt, the pain from his partically repaired injuries flaring back up with the motion. The extraction team had done what repairs they could, but the rest of the stress fractures in his armor and internals would require his own repair system and time to fix - which he would have plenty of on the trip back to earth.
The Prime turned his gaze to the side, picking lightly at a weld on his arm. Monstructor had nearly crushed him in his massive grip, and had managed even worse to poor Omega, who had to be transported off for repairs due to his size. The power the experimental 'gestalt' had displayed was terrible, and was terrifing in what it could mean for the scale of the war. But the very existance of such a being...a set of beings, experimented on in such a fashion... Optimus frowned under his battle mask as the disgust welled up in his spark once again. Omega should have known...
As should Nova Prime, more then anyone.
And there was Nova Prime, yet again. Optimus's expression darkened further - the past Prime's legacy was cropping up more and more, and ever since that feeling in Brasnya... Optimus felt his fuel pump stutter in dread. Something was very wrong with the entire situation, and he had no idea how to confront it. Optimus wasn't even sure if there was a way, short of some action through the Matrix. Nova Prime was supposed to be long dead, yet he could still sense the past Prime - without ever having met him himself - through infraspace.
It shouldn't be possible, yet it was, and Optimus had the bad feeling that he was going to have to deal with it sooner or later.
...At least the six mechs that made up Monstructor were in the hands of Jetfire and his team now. He had sworn to help them in any way that he could, and he would see it through, approving whatever resources were needed for their treatment. He pulled Jetfire's report up on the idling ship's display screen. Their transport was well on its way, as his should have been hours before. With a final sigh, Optimus initated the flight plan, and his small ship turned back towards Earth, where hopefully he would have time to deal with the problems there before being thrust into any other crisis...
