“i’m only lucky because i have you” | jessica/donghae, 418w for
sweetlemonrainHer hands are cold by the time he arrives, puffing clouds of frosted air around them as he breathes and huddles towards her. She thinks that she should be angry at his tardiness; that she should play the role of the overdramatic girlfriend and give him a hard time but Jessica knows she is better than that type of woman. And regardless of the time, the fact is-Lee Donghae is here, with her, now at that very moment and for what it was worth, tardy or not, this is all that mattered to her.
“You’re late,” she says to him the second he makes to grab her hands in between his. He grins in response, the smile apologetic and teasing at the same as he brings her hands close to his mouth and blows on them. She warms instantly at his touch, her own grin widening at each soft pass of his lips over her knuckles.
Nope, she could hardly pretend to be mad at him all.
“Sorry?” Donghae offers, grinning still. His eyes find hers easily when she looks up at him, her cheeks blushing from the cold (and hopefully because of him). Jessica is perfect in every bit and possible way, and she knows it because he tells her so when he wraps his arms around her and buries her face under his chin.
“Always late for special dates. You’re really lucky, Lee Donghae,” she huffs under her breath, bringing her arms under his coat and around his waist. He doesn’t hesitate to pull himself closer. “You’re so very lucky it’s Christmas and I’m feeling particularly jolly.”
Donghae laughs loudly, fitting his hands around her face to look at her. His lips presses against hers a second later, all soft and warm and full of love. It makes her breathless, the way his mouth moves upon her own and when he pulls away, she finds herself smiling a little more under the weight of his coat over her face as she leans back into his chest-comforted by the solid beating of his heart.
“I am lucky, and not just for the holiday too,” he tells her seriously, his nose fitted against her hair and breathing,
“I’m lucky because you love me. Even after all those lost years…”
Jessica smiles and shakes her head. And as they pulled apart and walked along the frosted path down to the quiet Seoul streets, she corrects him with a sweet kiss onto his palm.
“And I always will.”
“what i love about you is that you are mine” | taemin/sulli, 546w for
onceuponataemThere are few things Taemin loves about the winter season.
First of all, there was snow. And though the ice would easily melt and squish under his feet, slipping into his shoes and dirtying his socks, he loves how the cold makes him appreciate the warmth of the simpler things in life. Like fan-made gloves and scarves and hot chocolate made by his Key-hyung without complaint. Seoul is a little prettier with snow all around and he thinks he likes that the most about the weather. Pretty things have always had that effect on him.
Another thing he loves about winter is the food. Almost all of his favorites come out in the colder months. Everything is sumptuous during this time that it makes his mouth water at the thought of them prepared. His mom makes the best kimchi stew and she always makes sure to leave a pot full for him when he comes a little late for dinner. He thinks he might share the stew sometime with his hyungs, but he usually forgets-and honestly, he’s not as sorry about it as Minho and Jonghyun thinks he should.
And then there was the Holiday itself. Christmas is his favorite time of the year, and he’s not afraid of admitting it to anyone. He loves the thought of giving and receiving. He wraps his presents meticulously every year, and revels at the grins his friends and family make when they open them. He likes to hear and feel the gratitude from them because, really, isn’t this what Christmas is all about? It is the season to be thankful for what you have and who you spend it with. The season to be joyous that you are once more with the people you love.
But the best thing about winter is Choi Jinri. He likes that he gets to hold her hand and warms them up, letting the melody of her real name flow from his mouth without hesitation. He likes that she smiles as she brings him a bowl of his favorite stew, and that his mother likes her so much she invites her over for dinner almost every night. He likes that she doesn’t mind if he asks to watch the same movie (The Grinch) over and over again during the season. He likes that she participates lively in a snowball tournament against him and his hyungs, and that she howls in laughter whenever she gets hit with one (or two or three) and whenever she gets to hit them right back. He likes that she is as meticulous with her gift-giving as he is, and that every gift is an extension of her affection. He likes that he gets to see her eyes glitter when he opens her gift and praises her for her choice, because she honestly gives out the best gift.
Most of all, he loves the winter because it is the season he gets to spend with Jinri without having to be all the time. He loves the winter because each morning the snow falls upon his step, all he feels is the warmth of her hand cupping his cheek and the softness of her lips on his.
He loves the winter because Jinri is his, and he is hers.
“it’s not likely i do the things i do without reason” | changmin/yoona, 1,257w for myself
The party is in full swing by the time he arrives.
He’s not sure how Yunho managed to talk him into attending a Christmas party on the only night they were actually free from work but Changmin relents once a drink is shoved into his hand and he’s pushed into the house playing loud, thumping beats and bass tones. He’s grateful that a handful of people from their company are already drunk because he isn’t sure if he’d be much fun with the scowl on his face.
Everything and anything is fun to a drunk, so Changmin sticks to those people instead. His snarky observations -no matter how sarcastic or callous they may be-makes them howl with laughter and for a moment, Changmin considers getting drunk himself. At least once inebriated, it’d be easier to pretend that he was having a good time.
Even though he wasn’t having a good time. Not one bit. Not when his girlfriend-his hot, still annoyed, doe-eyed girlfriend, Yoona-is a few meters away, drinking her third bottle of soju and chatting with her members, completely ignoring his existence even though he’d thrown a few loud comments along her way.
(It wasn’t fair. She had started the fight, not him.)
Yeonhee knocks him with her bottle the second she sees him half-listening to some sleazy Christmas joke a tipsy Shindong was saying to their circle. She wore a mask as a headband, and for a moment Changmin considers making a comment on how masks were to be worn on faces and not on hair. He thinks better of it when she glares at him, her eyes deathly serious thought her cheeks were stained pink from the alcohol.
“Just go to her, Shim. Just go and stop being a party-pooper.” She scolds him, poking him with her finger on the chest. He starts to sputter a reply but she cuts him off coolly with another hard poke. “We both know it’s your fault that you and Yoona had a fight. Now grab her and make up already. I will not have a sulking banana brooding up my party.”
“That doesn’t even make any sense,” he says, deflecting the topic-and failing. He stands up to bury a hand through his hair, his jaw clenching as Yoona continued to ignore him and was now laughing it up with a particularly good-looking back-up dancer.
“And I am not the one at fault here!” He adds loudly but to no response. Yoona doesn’t even flinch from her position, her smile too wide and accommodating to be given to someone that isn’t him.
Damn it, Yoona.
Yeonhee scoffs, noticing his gaze and discomfort and slaps him upside the head. She’s bolder when drunk, a fact that Changmin is continuing to seriously dislike with every hit he takes from the petite beauty.
“Pssh! Excuses, excuses! Just admit you’re jealous at the fact that she hangs out with her guy friends without your permission more often that you like and be done with it. It’s not like she’s cheating anyway. I mean, if you really think about it, don’t you hang out with Victoria a lot? And what about those times you had late dinners with Seohyun and Tiffany? Or all those food arguments you got into with Sooyoung at the SME function last week?” Yeonhee rolls her eyes at him and continues, “I’ve never heard Yoona complain about your attentions with those girls ever and yet here you are, acting like a child just because she happens to smile at another guy in front of you. Spare me the brooding, wounded boyfriend act, Changmin. I’ve seen it enough from Jaejoong and even more when Yunho complains about BoA. It’s Christmas! You’re supposed to be jolly and shit!”
Her foot sticks out and hits him on the shin and Changmin jerks in surprise, yelping at the surprising pain before glaring at her brazenness. Yeonhee is undeterred by his death glare and shoves him away.
“Merry Christmas, Shim! Now go and kiss your girlfriend before I decide to kick you where it hurts.” She orders before turning away. And while he knows he should follow her, he thinks better of it and steps out into the balcony.
He doesn’t like to be scolded and especially now knowing (deep in his gut) that he was wrong.
The snow falls heavily, gathering on the railing in miniature hills. He flicks them off, enjoying the biting chill of the ice on the tips of his fingers. He’s always liked the cold better than the heat that summer brings and with the snow fluttering around, he thinks it makes the city seem even better too.
In the silence of the night, Changmin thinks about Yeonhee’s words. He hates to admit to his mistakes, but with her telling him so directly, it’d become so hard to ignore. He knew he was stubborn. He knew he could get a little temperamental. He knew he was a pompous ass sometimes, but he knows that she knew these things about him too.
His jealousy was not ‘uncalled for’ (Yoona’s words, not his)-it was reasonable because she was his girlfriend. His. And he was never one to share.
You could be more understanding though, his conscience chides, Yeonhee’s words are particularly straight on point. You are a jealous douche, and you don’t like it one bit.
He groans inwardly because even his conscience seems to be a little smarter than he was being right now.
“I wish you’d picked a better spot to hide out, Changmin.” Her voice breaking into his thoughts doesn’t surprise him one bit. And when Yoona’s arms wrap around his middle and her cheek presses against his back, he finds that he’s isn’t the least bit surprised that she’d be the first one to make a move into fixing things between them. The thought makes his chest heave and his free hand goes to clasp hers.
“You know that I like the cold.” He tells her instead, entwining their fingers together as he took a gulp out of his beer. The buzz from the drink gives him confidence and when she chuckles against his shirt, he turns to tip her head back for a kiss.
“Sorry.” He breathes when they part, his arms coiled around her waist-keeping her as close as possible in the small space of the terrace. “I’m not used to being the jealous one in the relationship.”
Yoona grins and shakes her head, snaking her hands over his shoulders to pull him closer. “It’s okay. I kinda like seeing you jealous to be honest. It makes it obvious how much you like me.”
He presses a kiss on her cheek. “You know it’s much more than that.”
“Yeah, I know.” Her eyes soften at his words. “It’s more for me too.”
The party is still in full swing when they go back inside. Their friends are laughing loudly and drinking the night away as they slip out unnoticed except for one. Yeonhee watches them with a grin as their arms clasp around each other tight and Changmin drops a kiss over Yoona’s forehead. She shakes her head as she tips her bottle back and takes a swig, congratulating herself on a job well done.
Her phone vibrates and she fishes it out, pressing keys without much thought. Her grin widens at the text she receives (1:30AM; I owe you dinner. Thanks -Changmin) and she thinks,
Another couple saved by Lee Yeonhee. It is a Merry Christmas after all.
a/n: I love the idea of drunk!Yeonhee. :) sometimes the best advice comes from drunk people... at least from my experience anyway. xD also yes, i do realize my OTP's drabble became a oneshot. i honestly don't know how that happened.
