Love Light

It's amazing how a program such as this could open your eyes (and heart) to a completely different person from yourself. You were excited at first, when you found out that it was going to be her - because she was so pure and so sweet; but later the worry set in and you wondered, How in the world would this work?

Surprisingly, despite the few silent moments, she makes it easy for you to open up. She doesn't realize this of course, but that doesn't bother you. The graceful way she talks and moves was enough for you to want to protect her, care for her. In a short time, you feel closer to her - and that makes me glad.

"Hyu~un." You greet her in your special way, and she laughs as she approaches you (all sunny and bright eyed). She wrinkles her nose as she stares deeply into the menu while you look at her openly with a smile. She's so innocent like this, and so pretty, you think. And then she looks up and suggests something that surprises you and says cutely, "Yo~ong." That you can only laugh and agree to whatever she just said, because she's too cute and too special.

You read more books now, because she recommends them. You read and read and read; and before you know it you've begun to enjoy it as much as she starts to enjoy learning to play the guitar you bought her. You take pleasure in the morals and thoughts she's put into your head through the books she recommends and enjoy the feeling of being able to make her learn (and laugh and smile) something from you. Through words and music, she connects with you. And you think, Hey, I like this.

When she smiles, your heart stops as you try to catch your breath.

She doesn't notice, of course. She hardly ever does when you glance at her out of the corner of your eye. And only because you'll never let her; and the secrecy of it all both excites and depresses your senses whenever she is near. No one has seen made you feel this way; so exhilarated and frustrated at the same time. And yet you don't mind at all. She seems to open up a whole new dimension of yourself that you never knew existed, and you find it endearing as she sweeps you off your feet with another one of those smiles and soft laughs.

But of course, it doesn't help when your members start to tease you after a few days out with her. You tell them it's his job, his schedule - you didn't intend for yourself to be casted for the show and blah blah blah. They don't hear you, and so they continue to torment you. They sing out one of her group's songs while your composing; they terrorize you with e-mailed images of her; and even worse, they push you towards her dressing room during programs.

You take this all with an easygoing laugh in front of the cameras, but once home you pummel them into submission. They laugh at you (against cries of pain and suffering) and tell you that you are red in the face (which you already know. Your face has been red since... well, since they started). This only makes you want to hurt them even more.

She calls you an hour later, and you throw your members a look as they scramble off to their beds and pretend to sleep. They told on you, as expected, and you sigh. Whatever happened to the awkwardness your members and she used to share, you wonder, as you greet her hello.

"Yong-oppa," she says in her melodious voice, "what is this I hear about you hurting Jungshin-chingoo and the others?" You could easily picture her shaking her head at you but at the same time was smiling. "You shouldn't hurt your group members... they're practically your family while you're here."

"Eh? But I'm a nice hyung. I wouldn't hurt them... that much."

You try not to grin too widely as her laugh echoed through the receiver. You see Jonghyun eye you creepily from his bed, and you throw a pillow at him, hiding your face. "Hyung, you really like her, don't you?"

You throw Jonghyun another pillow on his face, and grin triumphantly when it hits him hard.

"Eh? Was that Jonghyun-oppa?" you hear her ask curiously and your mind scatters. You don't know what to say; your mind is blank.

"Eh?"

She laughs again, "You're strange, oppa. But I think you're good this way. Don't change, ok? Goodnight."

You don't read into it... but you can't help but feel good about it either. You stand up quickly, taking your guitar with you and you rehearse your new song. You play it until you've got it memorized; until the smile on your face begins to ache (but you ignore it because you're still feeling pretty great about yourself).

You think So Nyeo Shi Dae's maknae, Seohyun is special. She's unique, adorable and simply unremarkable. You also think, that maybe (just maybe) Jongyun was right.

Maybe... you do like her. As much as you like how these words come out of your mouth as you sing them:

I'm genie for you, girl.
