Bwahahaha. I fall in love with anime all the time. For me, it's nothing new. But this one's a little different - it's not nearly as well-known, or maybe even well liked, and I had to spend some time searching for a place to watch it. But as I did watch it, I fell in love with it just like any other. What's different is I'm stepping out of my shell to do something for once... I'm going to try creating a little mini pimp post for all my anime-loving friends here on livejournal to see if I can spread the love.
And it's called...
隠の王 (Nabari no Ou, or "King of Nabari")
The main character is important, and Nabari no Ou's is top-class. His famous first line in the series is...
"I don't care."
He's the master of apathy - top level! And his skills include disappearing in the middle of people's one-sided conversations with him, ignoring or just plain forgetting people, avoiding people and running away from them, top-notch acting skills that can fool even the smartest English teacher and give him bad, bad thoughts, and in general, being a little devilish, while stuck in a constant carefree, nonchalant mood. He's not at all motivated, and sometimes he can be just plain SLOW. While he is all these things, he hides the fact that he is actually quite gentle-hearted, delicate and sweet. That... is Rokujou Miharu.
Yes, oh yes, he is great. He is cute. He is slightly evil. And he can win and break anyone's heart in an instant. Perfect candidate for main character in this ninja series.
But this isn't Naruto... no, it's much creepier, but also a lot cuter and a lot funnier. And as you can see, it's characters are hilarious and just so to die for.
Our main character is instantly surrounded by a group of characters who are dead-set on protecting him. Because see - he has a book inside him. Not one like you see written on paper - it's more like a secret. And whoever has and controls this thing that is inside Miharu will become the King of Nabari. Of course, our defenders all want Miharu to become the King of Nabari, and of course Miharu wants nothing to do with it.
Meet his guardians: Kouichi, Thobari-sensei and Raimei. These three are almost instantly at Miharu's side when the trouble starts. Kouichi is a fellow classmate of Miharu's, although when Kouichi approached him, Miharu had no idea who he was. Thobari-sensei is a middle school English teacher, who's greatest fear is riding in vehicles. It was so bad that he decided to walk to Tokyo when it became necessary and needed to be forced onto the bullet train and bus to Fuma Village, but not without much screaming, whining, carrying on, and after the fact, groaning and complaining - all out of legitimate fear of those "moving hunks of metal".
All the characters have their little parts that make them so much fun when they are together.
It's a bit creepy, a lot funny, full of ninjas, a lil' bit gay and a whole lot of love.
