My brother's computer contracted a terrible disease that when surfing online pulls up a bunch of advertising pop ups and changes the security setting to "accept all cookies"... I have managed to get rid of other evil programs in the past (including a couple I had to delete via the DOS environment because Windows would not let me delete them because it insisted they were essential processes)
This one I cannot fix however. The only realistic solution seems to be to back up music and picture files etc and wipe and completely reload everything. Meh.... I've been too busy lately to mess with it.
And I don't access livejournal or personal email from work. Could I? Maybe...I just won't. It just doesn't seem like a good idea.
I've been helping a friend with a few cakes she was making and working on a couple others. Plus my sister's birthday is this month and we were doing some stuff for that. (Not sure when I can get pix uploaded, what with the computer issues and all)
A group of us have been going to a new restaurant every two weeks to hang out and try different places. My choice was last week and I chose 1492 New World Latin Cuisine. Excellent food. I got to try some fried cactus, which were interesting...like firm and flavorful french fries. We also tried each other's dishes. Duck enchiladas and coconut rice were different and tasty. But between the appetizer, dinner, dessert and half a bottle of wine....rather pricey. I spent about $50.00. My brother wasn't impressed and I think the atmosphere was a little too "upscale trendy" for me but the food was well prepared so I'll probably go again...just not soon..heh.
Hey, dreamcatcher... I was actually up in your neck of the woods earlier today. Wouldn't have been able to visit you though... I was up there with my brother and his girlfriend, visiting her mother for her birthday (still not sure how I got roped into that. Seriously. I'M not dating her...)
One of my friends (not on livejournal) came back from his trip to Munich and Rome, so I again kick myself for not visiting my brother when he was in Germany. I do have some trips tentatively planned for this next year though. My brother and his girl and my sister and I and maybe one or two others will be taking a trip in January... it'll either be a cabin in "the woods" (don't remember where exactly), The French Quarter or Las Vegas. I've kinda vetoed Las Vegas for right now since we've all already been and (while yes, there are several new hotels that were not there when *I* went) I'm not a big gambler or drinker and I'd rather have more money for a couple of expensive shows like Cirque (which I won't so soon after the Christmas and New Year's Holidays). My brother wanted to go to the French Quarter for awhile there (all these are actually his ideas by the way) but now I think he's changed his mind because of crime issues and because he expects the area to be a lot more run down. If we end up leaning toward that though, I would probably be poking you, febrile, for some recommendations since you are more personally familiar with the area... :) Maybe even dragging you along with us a bit (at our expense of course) if you are not ridiculously busy with your studies. It may end up being the cabin after all though since it'll be the easiest and cheapest. We'll see.
Anyway, while I've got my storage facility nicely organized (thank you so much sis) so that I can reach things easily, I still have some major organizing at the house and a lot of misc crap I have to do tonight before bed, so this missive ends here.
Good evening to you all
