Feast and other ramblings

So, I decided to go to Samhain feast this year as a server because I thought the hostess didn't have any volunteers and it was just a few days away.
I would have gone in earlier today had I remembered that she would likely spend most of today with cooking and preparation and may have needed help for that as well. (how I could forget is beyond me...)

Instead I spent the day cleaning the house and trying to shake off the general malaise that seems to have creeped in. Bad malaise...go away you!

One brilliantly bright spot of cheer came from knowing that (because my brother and his girlfriend are away for the weekend) I would have the place entirely to myself and (even better) when I returned home, the place would be as clean and tidy as when I left it. No crap piled up on the coffee table, no dishes piled up haphazardly in the sink and all over the counters and stove...

Sometimes I feel that the English language has not words to fully express such arcadian delights such as these.

So, I threw together the closest approximation I could for the costume of Saint Bernadette (which, oddly enough, was easier than digging out my usual medieval garb) and headed down. Turns out I wasn't needed to serve, which I thought was going to be awkward since I've really been out of touch with the group for awhile and thought I might not have anyone to talk to, but I got to see and sit with a number of people I haven't seen in awhile that don't have livejournal. It was nice.

I miss these people. I don't want to get back into the group again... but unfortunately that's probably the only way I'll see them. We all have different work schedules and various obligations. It's just the way it is. but it does make me a bit sad.

On a totally unrelated note. As a thank you for continuing to read the lengthy missive above; I have an amusing (and short) story to relate.

So...yesterday I decided to go shopping at Cato's and actually found a bra AND a matching pair of panties, both in my size! Being the rare occasion that it is, I could not pass this up and purchased them. Stopping at my sister's to pick up a couple things I had left, I also showed them to her. In putting them down before she walked out of the room to get something, she chose poorly in her coffeetable placement. It didn't take me long to notice that my panties were on fire, but of course, by that time the candle had done it's damage. I hope that they have another pair when I go in later.
