For the benefit of my most awesome family, I`ll go ahead and post this email:
Is it NA' GA NO? NA GA' NO or NAG' A NO or something else completely different? Nobody asked about Hikone, but everyone wants to be specific about the place with the skiing and snow monkeys.
Lol, no problem, and thats a fairly complicated question actually. The short answer is NA GA NO, with no stresses, vowel sustainment, etc. Certain Japanese dialects may add accents to syllables of words when they have pre-existing homophones (like "hashi" meaning both bridge or chopsticks; or "kami" meaning hair, god, or paper), but this word isnt one of them.
In certain dialects, a rising accent is the difference between putting pants on and throwing up. Lengthening a vowel unnecessarily can result in serious misunderstandings as well (my person favorite: "chichi" is father, but "chiichii" are breasts...woops!) Hope that helps!
