A/N: This is a birthday gift for the awesome xmikarosex , who stood by me and supported me through my early ages in fanfic writing and lj posting. (Whoah, it's been about 2 months already since I entered lj.) Even though I still haven't heard from you, Mika-chan (You still owe me your updates from your fics!!!) I'm still keeping faith. I know real life can be such an arse sometimes so I quite understand about your sudden 'disappearence' from my inbox. :) Just be back soon, okay? Me and Daiki misses our fights with you and Hikka!! Oh btw, I got the plot from listening to Ai Scream by Hey!Say!JUMP and My Secret by Mizuno Saaya. took me awhile to merge them together in one plot. But as I haven't read the translations of Ai Scream, I don't even know if it is even related to the song. LOL. Maybe I thought it's related because I heard Hikka wrote this song... urgh. I should stop posting long author notes.
Summary: He came into her life and did not have any major impact on it. But then he came to know her secret and has been annoyingly stuck to her side ever since. She'd never thought that she'd enjoyed his presence.. much less want his presence. But on her birthday, he proved to be a need.

Laura Masu felt like everything was moving in slow motion. At first she was there, in a perfectly stable condition while handling with a customer's menu.. and now she's on her way down... to kiss Mother Earth personally. Curse you, Gravity.
She didn't even have time to process that she was going to get her head crushed when suddenly she felt a sudden warmth and strength enveloping her figure.
"Are you okay?"
She didn't even noticed she was closing her eyes when she finally opened them, letting her eyes being pierced by his chocolate orbs.
"EEEEHHH????"

Yaotome Hikaru was amused by all this. Really amused. He was just going to the Maid Latte Cafe to give his cousin, a worker there, her lunch. And this is what he gets, a classmate of his, donned in a pretty maid costume serving pantries to customers. Now, he's reaaaaaaaaaaaaally amused.
Hikaru couldn't help but snickered. It turns to louder chuckles when he noticed that the girl in front of him blushes a beet red.
"Why are you laughing, Yaotome?!"
"I'm just amused.. I didn't know you like to work here, Laura. You like being a maid?" He smirked when he saw her shook her head in denial... but her face was still red.
"I-i'm just working here to help my sister!! That's all!!!....... And you!!!!" Her face was now inches apart from his. She was grabbing his collar to pull him close. All her shyness, gone in an instant.
"Don't you DARE tell anyone at school! Not. Even. A. Single. Soul." Hikaru have to admit, he was a bit frightened by the tone of her voice. This is someone you DO NOT want to mess with. But being the daredevil he is, he was getting more interested in the situation with how she's reacting. Besides, she looks downright sexy when she's over reacting like this with her maid costume. They were inside the worker's changing room.
Hikaru just smiled and covers her small hands that are still grabbing his collar with his, grinning a bit more when he saw a tint of blush creeping back in her cheeks. "Don't you worry, Ra-chan. I won't ever reveal our secret. Besides.." His smiled even wider. "...I want you all by myself." Hikaru simply stated while removing her hands from his collar and winked.
"WHAT THE HELLLL YAOTOME?!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Days past and Hikaru kept pestering Laura with his presence at the Cafe. Ordering nonsense that makes Laura want to strangle him... but unfortunately couldn't. He was a customer. She'll be lectured by her sister if she kicked her customers out. Oh how she wish she could kick him out.
So everyday, the couple kept bickering at anything and everything. Laura still not accepting the fact that Hikaru knew about her secret, was still keeping a grudge.
Her sister Mika, was very fond of them both. She loves it when Hikaru comes by at the Cafe. Because he was the one that managed to make Laura feel alive again. Whether she knew it or not.
Mika smiled. Ah... young love. She's happy that her little sister can finally feel happiness after their parents died when their house caught fire. She was the only one Laura could count and rely on, but Mika never even saw Laura create genuine feelings after their parents' accident, so seeing Laura bickering with Hikaru was like a dream come true for Mika. Although she looked quite sociable and friendly at school (That's why she's the class representative), she was just faking the truth that she's still a recovering broken doll from a tragic past. Mika had long decided that Laura's happiness is the only thing that matters the most.

She was supposed to meet her sister at the amusement park today.. but where is she?
A beep from her phone indicated the she got mail and she eagerly flipped her phone open to check it.

To: Laura
Gomene, Laura-chan. Something happened at the cafe and I can't accompany you right now. But don't worry! I sent someone to accompany you. So you go ahead and have fun! I forbid you to come home unless you have a bag full of fond memories from the amusement park, ne? Always know that I will always I love you, my little girl. Please be safe. <3

Laura just laughed at the cheesy message, But she was used to it. It made her love her sister more and she would always have this feeling to keep strong for the sake of the family.
She closed her phone and let her gaze fall at the crowd. Who did she say she sent? Her eyes drifted to one place to another.
When she saw the familiar blonde hair....

"And why are you here again?!"
"Ouch, that hurt, Ra-chan. Does it hurt you to at least say hi to me BEFORE you want to bite my head off for existing?" Hikaru said with a slight pout, holding his heart as if he was going to have a heart attack.
Laura just rolled her eyes. "Hello, Perv Yaotome."
Hikaru grinned and bubbly answered her with a "Hi!!"
"Seriously, what are you doing here? Are you stalking me?!"
"Tch, as if you're worth stalking." He stuck out his tongue to a furious Laura. "But whatever, your sister sent me here. I was just going with the flow." Laura made mental note to slap some sense in her sister later that day.
Even before Laura have finished making her mental note, Hikaru had already grabbed her hands and started dragging her to god who knows where.
"Yaotome! Where in the name of Merlin are you going to bring me?!" Laura didn't even had time to continue with her rants when she felt a finger on her lips and his face a few inches from hers.
Laura blushed a deep red but she was unsure of the reason why. Why is she blushing because of a perverted classmate who keeps pestering her in every minute of her life? Impossible.
"To have fun!!!!!!!!!!! Ikou, Ra-chan!!! Today's gonna be a blast!!" Hikaru cheered loudly, not caring of the eyes that are staring at the both of them.
He had promised Laura's sister to take care of her and to ensure her that she's going to have fun on her birthday. Yeap. It's Laura's birthday. Another reason for Hikaru to obliged to this request other than for his personal enjoyment (He's going to the amusement park with Laura. What more can he ask? Even Laura is enough to be his amusement park.) was because of the way he felt about the talk between him and Laura's sister..
There was definately something wrong with the way she smiled, the way she talked about Laura, the way she asked him to protect her and be with her...
"...Yaotome?"
"Uh.. Hai?"
"Is something wrong? Why are we suddenly stopping?" Hikaru snapped back from his thoughts.
He'll just worry about that later. Now he's got a mission to complete.
"Awwwww, Ra-chan likes her hands being held by Hikka~?" Hikaru had to quickly duck from a raging Laura after that. Hikaru had to chuckle. How he love teasing her like this.

"You know, I don't think you're that bad after all." Laura manages to choke out the words before she regretted them. After saying that she finally decided that the ice cream she's eating is the most fascinating thing in the world. It was almost daytime. As promised they had a great deal of fun that day.
Hikaru looked blank for a millisecond till his face broke to a wide smile. "Is Laura-chan finally admiitting the she likes me? Oh my gosh, I feel so giddy!"
Laura giggles at Hikaru's silliness and whacks his arm. Funny, but when she thought about it... she didn't even remember why she hates and dislikes him so much. After all, he was the one that saved her at that time at Maid Latte Cafe... Laura could feel a blush travelling from her chest to her neck as she recalled what had happened. Now she felt guilty. He was always there for her, He had kept his promise to never tell anyone about her secret. she felt like she was indebt to him... and to think that she treated him coldly... She could still feel the blush. Her emotions are running wild. She couldn't think straight. Why is she like this? She's usually a cool headed person!
Laura stopped on her tracks. Her ice cream long forgotten. Then suddenly she felt something cool on her forehead that made her look up. She saw Hikaru placing his arm on her forehead, with his other hand on his. His face was full of concern. That shocked Laura even more than before.
"Are you okay, Laura?" His voice was low and it sent Laura shivers. It was as if they were at the cafe again.
"D-daijobou. What are you talking about? I'm absolutely fine." She stammered. But she could feel her temperature rising up (how is that even possible?!?!). Why is she like this? She felt so confused right now.
Hikaru looked like he was not satisfied with her answer but dropped the subject. He knew her well enough now to know that he should leave it be. She could get stubborn at times. But that didn't stop him from being worried.
To state the obvious, he really cared for the girl beside him. Even when he knew her strengths and weaknesses... and also her sad past. It made him feel more overprotective over her. He just wondered if he will able to say it out right to her without her being too shocked or whatever. Even if she was one of the smartest students in school, she's really dense in these types of things.
Hikaru stopped in his tracks when he felt that Laura was no longer beside him. He frantically searched for her and gave a sigh of relief when he saw her a few feets behind him. But his relief was short lived when he saw her slowly falling down, her phone on the other hand...

Laura woke up to the feeling of pain to the intensity of the light. She winched a little as she stood up to a sitting position. Her vision blurred slightly with the headache she was suffering. She was still a bit off and she just realized that she in a hospital with Hikaru sleeping at her side.
Just when she saw him did she realized that he was holding her hand all these time. She blushed slightly but tried hard to gain courage to sweep away his bangs from his face with her other hand.
She blushed harder when Hikaru stirred in his sleep and finally woke up.
"L-laura? Are you fine? Do you want me to call the doctor?" His voice and looks was full of concern that Laura felt the pang of guilt again.
Then realization dawned on her. The park. The call. The news.
"Nee-chan." She gaped. Her tears now flowing freely down her soft cheeks. She called her names a few times more and she doesn't even care about her ego in front of Hikaru. She was close to being hysterical... if it wasn't for him.
"NEE-CHAN!!!!!!!!!!!! NEE-CHAN!!!!!!!! Hikaru!!!!! We had to go back! We had to!! She needs us!!!!!" Her voice had broken from her overwhelming emotions at this point and her face was wet from tears.
Hikaru was hugging her, comforting her, trying to calm her down. "Shhhh, Laura! Laura! Calm down!!!! It's no use!! She's gone." Even Hikaru was teary eyed. How could he not when he's looking at the girl he loved, who he thought was one of the strongest people alive is now breaking apart right in front of his eyes.
Laura is now crying hard in his arms, feeling more alone than ever...
"I will never leave you, Laura. I promise. I promise I will never ever leave you. Please calm down. Please, It hurts me to see you like this. God damnit, I love you too much to see you like this. Please stop." Hikaru still had his arms around Laura and he was rocking her back and forth, his face in her hair, whispering comfort to her ears. Laura had finally broke down. The almost patched up doll is now broken again for the second time.
That night was spent with Laura in his arms. Both refusing to let the other go.

"Arigatou, Hikaru." she murmured in her sleep, her cheeks still tear-strained. Hikaru smiled slightly - a bitter smile - and covers her soft full lips with hers.

Epilogue
After Mika's death, the Maid Latte Cafe was taken over by Hikaru's cousin, who was also a close friend of Mika. Laura still works there, even with the protests of Hikaru. She said it helps her heal by working and serving to people.
Hikaru kept his words and never left her.
Laura still loved her sister and parents and did not blamed them for leaving her. She was just glad that they left her with Hikaru and not let her suffer the trauma alone.
Slowly, Laura opened up her heart once again, giving the whole world a third chance, with the help of Hikaru.
They are now both inseperable... and (Laura finally admitted) are very much in love.

Epilogue
After Mika's death, the Maid Latte Cafe was taken over by Hikaru's cousin, who was also a close friend of Mika. Laura still works there, even with the protests of Hikaru. She said it helps her heal by working and serving to people.
Hikaru kept his words and never left her.
Laura still loved her sister and parents and did not blamed them for leaving her. She was just glad that they left her with Hikaru and not let her suffer the trauma alone.
Slowly, Laura opened up her heart once again, giving the whole world a third chance, with the help of Hikaru.
They are now both inseperable... and (Laura finally admitted) are very much in love.
