Note: I love reading prompts like these and was tempted to try one. Usually they are about JUMP or JUMP pairings and I’ve never read a prompt with an OC before. So I thought that I should give it a try. I hope you guys would still like it!
I apologise for those who are waiting for updates on my chaptered fiction! No, I’m not ignoring them, well, yes maybe I am, NOOO! I didn’t just say that! D:
This is in any way not related to

Unfinished Story. Yes, I know. I’m such a freaky, obsessed fan. I’m just borrowing her character’s name because I was thinking about them when I was writing this.
Line is not in university in this story… yet. (There’s a reason for that.)
Daiki and Kei are in JUMP. (Which are not according to aem’s story.)
This is for you guys,
aemrith and
immortalsummer! It's way past 1am here but meeeh, I know it's almost 12am there. Happy birthday, Aem! <3

Usually, it was the three of them that hangs out at that particular café every Friday night. But that night it was just the two of them.
Throughout the days, they soon notice that the number of nights they spend together seem to deteriorate - what’s with 2 out of them 3 are busy with their idol life and also another 2 with their student life. Kei couldn’t come that night due to the latter.
“I bet he’s studying his arse off for an exam that’s eons away.” Daiki murmured before he took a sip from his hot chocolate. Line just chuckled.
“Well that’s Kei-chan for you.”
“Well I don’t get it. You don’t seem to be really busy with school. Proof: You came!”
“Kei-chan’s in university while yours truly is still on her way. You do the math. ”
“Urgh, I hate math.” Daiki grumbled and they both laugh it off after which came the silence.
“What’s your major?” Line raised an eyebrow at Daiki and managed to hide her confused laugh. What the-?
“I think Kei-chan’s randomness must be rubbing off on you.” Daiki laughed and then stared at her, waiting for her answer.
“Uuh, I’m majoring Biology.” (A/N: not sure about this one, I just remembered Biology as one of her subjects. Fail fan failed.) Line smiled that confused smile; curious to know what’s Daiki playing at.
“Well I’m in my second year taking up Math in Meiji University” Line laughed. This boy definitely got rubbed by Kei’s randomness. Oh well, two can play the game.
“Well, nice to meet you then.” she giggled. Roleplaying is kind of fun, especially when you’re really bored - like these two.
“You know, I missed my meeting for a project tonight.” He said, looking straight in her eyes. Line find herself somewhat breathless... how did that happen?
“Why, may I ask?”
“So that I can finally meet my soul mate: you.”
She could feel her heart skipped a beat and the warmth flowing in her cheeks. For a split second she was silent - then thought better of it.
Line laughed it off, covering her mouth with her hand to muffle the sound.
“That’s so cheesy!” Daiki who was apparently laughing with her stopped laughing.
“I know right? I’m practicing some lines to pick up this girl I’ve been eyeing since forever.” Line’s eyes widen. When did THAT happened?
Daiki who seem to just realise what he had slipped out, too looked surprised.
“You never told me about her! Tell me! Tell me!”
She pestered him for the truth but he didn’t give in. Line didn’t know why there was a dull ache in her chest.
II
Line sat at her usual place in between the two boys.
"Omedetou!" they both cried and placed a box each before her.
Line laughed in confusion, "Eh? It's not my birthday..."
"Pffft. Who cares about the day people are born when we have 365 days to spend our times together?" That was Kei. Line just laughed alongside Daiki. He did have a point there.
"But seriously Kei-chan, what's the occasion?"
"Can't we spoil our own best friend?" That was Daiki. He pouted a bit and turned to Kei, "Right, right, Kei-chan?"
"Just because I'm younger than the both of you doesn't mean you guys should treat me differently. Now I feel guilty for letting you guys waste money on me."
"Naaah! Nothing to worry about. We heard you were accepted to Meiji~ Ureshii! Now I can spend more time with you!" Line laughed. She's touched.
"No faiiiiir. I want to spend time with Line too!" Daiki whined while Kei excused himself to go to the gents, leaving the childish Daiki with Line.
"Ne, ne. Go open mine!" Daiki urged and Line obliged. She saw a pair of glasses with pink sides. She blinked and looked at Daiki... Who wore the same ones - except that his were blue in colour.
"See! We matched! I was shopping at Shibuya the other day and saw these and was reminded of you. So I bought it straight away~ they said it's really popular these days. Yay! Go wear it!"
"But I'll look weird! I mean you're an idol; everything you wear will look good. Anything I wear will look nerdish and geeky."
"Are you saying you don't like my present?" He said with a hint of disappointment.
"No, no. I love it! Really, I do! I mean... Urgh, fine. I'll wear it, but promise me you won't laugh! Blimey, the things I do for you guys..." Daiki cheekily grinned.
"I won't! So go and wear it!" Line sighed and turns her back on him slowly putting on the glasses. After taking a deep breath she whipped back to face him.
Daiki looked stunned for a split second and then he coughed. Line felt self-conscious already. Hell, it's obvious Daiki's trying to hide his laughter, she thought.
"See! I look weird! I'm taking these off!" Her hand flew to her glasses but Daiki caught her wrist.
"No! No! You look great, Line-chan! You really do! I was just taken aback from your looks." Daiki said. Line rolled her eyes at his attempt to make everything better.
"Fine. Do you have a mirror?" Line scanned the area for any mirror to show her how she look like in the glasses.
"Look into my eyes… because in my eyes, there's only an image of you." Line felt that familiar flip-flop in her tummy and then the sinking of it as she realised something. She rolled her eyes again. But really, she could feel that ache again in the pit of her stomach.
Line mocked a shiver, "Mushy. You're still practising for that girl? You haven't told me anything!" Line pouted. Obviously disturbed at how he STILL didn't want to tell her anything.
At first Daiki looked blank until realisation struck him and he made an 'O' with his mouth. Line looks at him like he had lost his plot. Daiki started to talk when he was cut off by Kei.
"Eh? You guys opened up the presents without me?" Kei said and grabbed his present to make Line open it.
That night, Daiki still didn't want to breathe a word to Line about the girl. When asked about it to Kei, Line was fuming when she knew that Kei seem to have an idea about who the girl is. (Daiki was glaring daggers at Kei by now.)
III
JUMP didn't have a schedule that day and they were still on break from the university so our trio took the chance to spend time together.
Lately, Line was having troubled thoughts about Daiki and the mysterious girl. She was confused and hurt. Was she hurt because Daiki didn't want to tell her about the girl?
Maybe... Yeah, that might be it, she mused to herself. Even though, deep, deep, deeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, inside her, she knew that that wasn't the case.
She wondered why she felt like a knife had stabbed her when the issue of the girl was brought up. She was confused. When Kei liked the waiter at that café, (Miyuki, wasn't it?) they went a long time ago, she felt fine, to put it bluntly, even a bit giddy. But why is it different with Daiki? Why-?
"Line-chaaan~ Daijoubu?" Kei was waving his hand in front of her. His expression was full of concern. In her side view, she saw Daiki having the same expression.
"Ah, hai. Gomen. What's up?" Kei sighed. And lightly graze his knuckles on her forehead. Line could feel Daiki going tense by her side. Weird.
"What were you thinking, Line-chan? We could practically see your mind reeling." Kei said, his arms moving around like an inside of a clock. Line laughed sheepishly.
"I'll just go on and order something for us to eat. I'm starving. The usual, Dai-chan? Line-chan?" Kei asked, snickering a little at Daiki's expression which Line had missed to see. Line just happily nodded. She just realized that she's starving too.
Line and Daiki just chatted like always while waiting for their order.
"What are you doing, Dai-chan?" Daiki had his arms fully inside his bag.
"Line-chan, can you help me? I can't find something precious of mine." He said looking around to see maybe it had dropped nearby.
"Oh okay." Line tried to follow Daiki's gaze. "What is this precious something you're searching for anyways?"
"Just a key to your heart." He simply stated - his eyes still glued inside his bag. Line's heart flew and once again was shot down as she realized (again) that those lines were not for her.
"Urgh, you and your cheesy lines." Line mocked a shiver. Daiki laughed.
Kei then came with their orders. Daiki just grinned at her. Line think... That she doesn't like how Daiki's lines affect her. She was confused and Daiki's lines made it worst.
IV
They decided to spend some time together at an amusement park. As practically everyone knew about the trio's friendship, they never really made quite a ruckus about it.
Line was standing nearby at the gate, tapping her feet to the rhythm of Time. They were late. Again.
She sighed. She was worried. What if something bad happened? She fiddled with her phone. Should I call them - ?
There was a sudden 'Ring!' and she slammed her finger on the green button.
"Moshi moshi?"
"Where in the bloody hell are you guys? I was worried!"
"Oh! Gomen! Kei-chan was being such a girl and kept changing clothes. When we were on our way, we accidentally split up and I can't find him." Well that didn't help with Line's worry-freak habit.
"Don't worry, Line! He'll be fine! He's - Wait, I just saw this gorgeous girl so I'm going to hang up now, Bye!"
"But, Dai-?" Line groaned as the tone of the phone droned in her ear. Gorgeous girl? Line felt a stab of white jealousy. Oh wait just a minute, did I just say jealousy? Line was flustered with her own thoughts. She wasn't really jealous, was she? Oh Lord. When did Daiki manage to make Line's mind spin like this?
Line could feel someone behind her and she tensed up. The person behind her rested his head on her shoulder.
"Hey, gorgeous girl. Cupid just made a call asking for my heart back." Daiki huskily whispered.
Line whipped around, her heart was fluttering wildly against her ribs.
"Dai-chan, you scared me!!" She cried and whacked his arm. She bashfully admitted to herself that she knew her neck and face would be flushed by now.
"Did I? Gomen gomen." Daiki smirked. "So let’s go and search for Kei-chan!" Daiki suddenly exclaimed, grabbing Line's wrist.
Line didn't know whether or not she was still flushed due to the recent 'incident' or because Daiki never left her wrist alone, by which Line felt that... She didn't want him to let go.
V
The year rolled on and Kei and Line found themselves just finishing their exam months. Even JUMP had fewer schedules after that. So as a treat, our trio went to watch a movie together.
Line never saw the reason to watch anything gore and horror. Sure, she surely READS horror and gore, it’s just that, she just didn’t remember when was the last time she ever watch any gore movies. Heck, she didn’t even remember the last time she watched a movie. Now that she’s watching one now, she just knew that she’s urm… a bit ‘sensitive’ to it.
The movie was gut-wrenching. Line heard herself gulped and stopped breathing when the screen shows another scene of bloodied mass of bodies. Her tongue was rough as sandpaper and her knuckles were white because she had a strong grip on her jeans. She shut her eyes when another scream pierced the cinema.
Daiki who was surprisingly calm chuckled lightly when he saw Line’s condition. Line noticed him and blushed.
“Shut up. It’s been awhile since I watched this kind of movie.” Line mumbled, wincing a little when another scene flashed. Kei was too engrossed in the movie to even care about his two best friends.
“Hey, hey. Who said I’m judging?” Daiki chuckled again and puts his arm around Line so that she faces him. “Don’t worry. If it’s too much for you, you can just look at me and nothing else.” Daiki said it so casually that it kind of pissed Line off a bit. Not to mentioned feeling that too familiar feeling in the pit of her stomach.
Line slapped his hand away, like a mother when she saw one of her kids trying to steal a cookie from the cookie jar. “Ha ha, very funny Dai-chan. But it isn't going to work. I’m fine. Just a bit queasy from the food.”
Daiki pouted and Line faked a laugh.
The duo earned a few shushes from the people near them, including Kei.
+ I
Line suprised everyone when she announced that she was to move to Canada after she finishes her last term of the year. It was tough for everyone; especially our golden trio.
The days were gone in a instant and it was now a few days till her departure. Line acted as if the move was nothing. She spent the days bonding with her friends and making more memories. Her own two best friends were rarely there because of their schedule. Line acted strong but really, she felt like breaking apart.
But she didn't want to worry anyone and decided to put a facade over her true feelings. The fact that she could not meet Daiki and Kei as often as now was unbearable. She noticed that Kei's effort was apparent in trying to make time for her and that made her even more sad. He was already struggling studies with work and now he has to think about his best friend leaving.
and Daiki... Line sighed, feeling a tear running down her cheek. She hastily wiped it away. She rarely sees him now. The light feeling when they were together goofing around with Kei was gone. Line didn't know what to do.
Line finally uncovered her true feelings towards Daiki during the past few weeks but she quickly tried to bury them. She was almost gone anyways, what good would it do? But even with that, Line could feel her heart getting heavier and heavier everyday. If Daiki was sad or happy with Line going, she didn't know because he kept quiet.
Maybe it's better that way...
It was time for departure.
Everyone came to see her depart - even JUMP. Except for one.
Line was trying hard not to cry when she couldn't see Daiki in her crowd of family and friends. Everyone had finished bidding goodbye and Line turned to leave.
She then felt a hand grip her wrist and she turns around with a hopeful look. It was just Kei. He saw her look being replaced with disappointment and gave her a sad smile. He knew about her feelings for their other bestfriend long before she knew herself.
"I promise to kill that guy when I meet him, okay?" Line smiled meekly with tears running. Kei and Line shared another hug. "Don't forget to come visit us in the future okay?" Line didn't trust her voice and just nodded at him.
She was already near the gate.
That was when she heard him. "Line-chan!"
"Dai-chan?" Daiki looked as if he just ran a marathon.
"I'm sorry. I've been such a jerk to you lately and it's all my fault. I.. I couldn't face you, I couldn't bear to see you. It hurts, Line-chan. Knowing that you're going." Daiki looked down to his shoes. "I don't know if this is going to work or anything but it's worth a shot."
"Line-chan... I, I couldn't bear to see you leave. I don't want you to leave! I know it's selfish of me but I just wanted to say that. I don't know what I'll do if you go... I've been trying hard to tell you the truth but my heart kept racing and my mind went blocked and I just couldn't think! I even ended up searching pick-up lines fom the internet because of Hikaru-kun's persuasion! Don't you think I'm desperate enough to tell you the truth?" Daiki was absolutely rambling now. Line was still rooted on her place, pale from shock.
"Th- the truth about what?" Line slowly asked. Daiki then flushed a deep root red.
"Th-that, I... uh... I... like you, Line-chan. No, I love you. It was so stupid of me to just let you get away so easily.. believe me Line, I wanted to do this earlier but I kept chickening out and Kei and the others kept pressurising me and - "
"So- there's no other girl? The pick-up lines... they were REALLY meant for me?"
"I...Y-yes... When you laughed the first time I told you, I was so embarassed that I ended up saying those words and -" Daiki took a deep breath and said in a quiet, timid voice, still very red in the face. "D-do you think... that if I were to follow you home... would you keep me?"
Line was silent at first and she finally laughed a little. There goes cheesy Daiki again. But replacing the dull ache was the surge of warmth, knowing that Daiki really meant them for her. Her and nobody else.
"Yes..." Line breathed and quickly left her luggage and hug the crimson-faced guy in front of her. They didn't care what the other people thinks. They just absorbed the moment that they have to treasure. The other didn't seem to want to let the other go and so they stayed there, while listening to the beat of their heart and the droning sound of Line's flight, leaving the airport.
{ + }
After what it feels like eternity had past, they broke the hug and went down to meet the others.
Kei, who noticed them first, grinned at the couple. Obviously, it's either this guy knew too much or he's just really smart... or maybe even both. "Line-chan! Dai-chan! Wh-"
Line was dragging Daiki away from the crowd and towards the exit. Kei looked confused and so does Daiki - if he weren't still red in the face because of how Line kept holding his hand tight.
"Ehh.. Line-chan! Where are you going?" Line ignored him and went on her merry way.
"Line-chan... seriously... where ARE we going?" Daiki asked her (after finally calming down a bit.)
Line just shrugged and started to casually say, "to the police station. I'm going to report you."
"Eeehh??? Why??? What have I done that's so bad??" Daiki cried and Line suddenly stopped to face Daiki with a twinkle in her eyes.
"Because you sir, had been accused of stealing my heart and made me scrape my knee when I fell in love with you."

Lol. Last part of the story ended up being too long. Sigh. So much fail. Was trying to finish it before it's 12am in Canada. :D Sorry I couldn't post this at exactly 12am Canada time, Aem. :( It's already 1am here and I just spent 4-5 hours making the last part. I kind of hate this because it's so messy. haha!
Wish you a great, great, great, birthday, Aem! <3 (I really hope this fic doesn't disappoint you. It's unbetaed. ><)
