In the morning, all of the university students seem to be walking on their way to collage.. ready to accept what the lecturer might give to them. I’m Megumi -one of university students in Tokyo University, learning to become a nurse. I’m in my second year and in the volleyball club. Yeah, I like outdoor activities and volleyball is one of my activities.
Since I joined the club, I feel like I found someone that makes my heart throb really fast everytime I met with him. He is my senior in the club, and his name is Ryosuke Yamada. I don’t know what he does to make me fall in love with him, but I’m certain, his face is too cute and sometimes he can be cool too. It was love at first sight!
Both of us are in different faculties. He is in the faculty of music while I’m in the faculty of medicines. We only meet if we have a meeting in the club house or if we’re on the field. But still, it makes me sad that I’m not in the same group as him.
By the way, this month is Valentine’s day, which the day that girls confess their feelings to their special someone that they love. We could give love shaped chocolates, roses, or anything else that’s a sense of pink. Chocolate most of all is the most romantic.
I have some plans to give choco cookies to him. But, actually, I don’t have any courage to give it. You know? He is so popular in our collage. Too many girls love him -and I do too..
None of my friends know that I have feelings for my senior. I decided to hide it from them. As the days go on, I tried to make the choco cookies that I will give to Yamada-senpai. But every time I tried making the cookies, I always asked my mom to taste it because her comments usually make me happy. She told me that they were delicious! Yeah, I’m still conscious to give them to my senior who I love...
~Valentine’s Day~
Today is Valentine’s day. Many girls gave their chocolates to their special someone, hoping that their someone would want to be with her.
I also made choco cooked to my friends of course, but the ones I made for Yamada-senpai were special.
I looked over at Yamada and he was doing nothing. I then tried getting closer to him..
“Ng.. Yamada-senpai.. has a free time now?”
He looked up at me, “Yeah, why?”
“Do you mind.. if you follow me.. to another lonely place?” I said hesitant. “Don’t worry, it is still around here..” I added fast as I can
“Uh..Uhm.. Okay” he replied.
We then walked to the club house. Yamada following me..
Silence..
There was no conversation between us..
When we arrived, I was so nervous at the thought of being alone with Yamada-s enpai.. Just the two of us in here. Enough lonely, I thought.
I went to looked for something in my bag, and my hands started to shake. That something was the special choco cookies for him, of course.
Yamada- senpai looked quiet when he gazed at the bag with a confused face.
“Uhm.. Yamada-senpai.. this..” I look down, trying to avoid his eyes. “This.. choco cookies for you” my hands started to move in front of him.
His hand started moves too with hesitant, taking my choco cookies.
“Thank you..” he said
“Un, you’re welcome, senpai..”
Silence. Again.
“Hm.. sorry” I finally looked at Yamada-senpai. “What is it for? Am I.. special to you?”
At the same time, I’m blushing when I heard his words. How could he has asking me like that? It makes me.. shy, right?
“A.. Uhm.. A- about it...” I’m lost of words. I don’t know what to say to him. Should I confess my feelings to him? Ah, it’s not a good idea.. “I.. I only.. admire.. you..” I looked down. No, it was a lie, senpai.. But after that I trying looking at his face. I want to know his reaction.
“Oh.. I see..” he nodded slowly
Huh, just like that? I mumbled in my heart..
“Yamada-senpai.. Please, don’t mention the choco cookies to anyone, even my friends,” I added before we go back to the club house.

Day by day went. Month by month went. Nothing special happened to my routine in the club. We just played volley ball at the field or sometime we’re at the club house -talking about tricks to winning competitions and divided the members to specific groups.
Since valentine’s day, I often look at Yamada-senpai. Sometimes, our eyes meet and I blush. It always happen.
I don’t know why, but since I gave choco cookies to him, I felt like Yamada-senpai looks at me often -uhm.. or maybe it is just my imagination, ne~
Although I already gave the choco cookies to Yamada-senpai, it went far from my expectation in getting closer to him. Our relationship became worse. After that day, we haven’t talked to each other recently. Maybe he feels uncomfortable with me? I wish it never happened.
Today we have a meeting at the club house. Our seniors talking too much about our club which they came to a serious topic. So, us, the juniors, just sit in silence, listening to what they have to say.
While I listen to the seniors talk, I started to daydream about me and Yamada-s sen pai on a date. It should be fun, right- all of the sudden, I want that fantasy to come true.. After the meeting I decided that I’ll ask Yamada- senpai about it. I hope he would agree to it..
At home, I lay on my bed thinking about the words I will message him later. I have his social media account, so I decided to use it to ask him.
Me: Yamada-senpai.. can we have a moment?
My heart throbbing really fast. I wonder if he would reply my message.. Oh god...
1 minute...
2 minutes....
3 minutes...
My phone vibrant. I hope that’s him.
Y-S: Who is this?
Gyaaaa.. I’m screaming out when I looked at his name on my phone. I replied his message as fast as I can.
Me: Me.. Megumi desu
Y-s: Oh. Why?
Me: Are you free on sunday?
Y-s: I’m still don’t know. Why are you asking about it?
Me: If you have free.. I want ask you if you want to go to a place with me.
Oh god.. finally it was sent to him. I was hoping that I will get a chance to go to some place with Yamada-senpai

5 minutes...
I’m hesitantly what will Yamada-senpai reply my chatting..
Y-S: Where are we going later?
I’m sigh hard when read his chat
Me: I think mall, senpai. There is movie which I want watch. Is it okay?
Y-S: I don’t know. Let me think about it
For the second time, I sighed hard when I read this chat.

I’m thankful that after I sent him that message we haven’t gone anywhere before. I don’t know what will happen to me if we did.
For the second time, I sent him a message again, asking what was his decision.
Me: Konbanwa Yamada-senpai.. Can I know your answer about our plan the other day?
Y-S: Just two of us?
Me: Y-yes... Why, senpai?
Y-s: Okay. I’m going

Today is my birthday. Intentionally, I asked Yamada-senpai to go to the mall today because I wanted to make my birthday special than my past ones. And, I want to make another moment with Yamada-senpai -although he didn’t know about my birthday, I don’t care about it.
The day I was waiting for finally came. I’m so happy. Finally, today I have plans with Yamada- senpai. I wore a casual style that looks cute a little. It’s a special day for me, so I want to make my mind special too.
Now, I’m waiting for Yamada-senpai at the bus stop near our collage. i decided that we will watch a romantic movie today. I’m so thankful that Yamada- senpai doesn’t mind.
“K-Konnichiwa Y-Yamada-senpai..” I greeted him. He just gave a thin smile.
“We should wait for the next bus senpai. It comes in five minutes.” I told him.
“It’s okay”
Silence. I’m so nervous. I want to talk to him too much but no words came out from my mouth.
“Y-Yamada-senpai.. Am I not disturbing your activity or your work, am I?”
“Oh, no.. Just enjoy” he said trying to normal voice
“T-Thank you” I looked down. I have no bravery to see his face.
After 5 minutes of waiting, the bus finally comes. We got in the bus and sat in the middle passengers. We were just silent on the bus.
30 minutes went and we arrived at the mall. While we walked to the mall, I tried to start talking to Yamada- se n pa i. I just thought that our plans were boring if we didn’t talk. So, I had the courage to start a conversation with him.
“Yamada-senpai.. did you eat before coming?” I ask
“I have..” he said and looks at me “Why?” he added
“Uhm.. no, I just asked. So, should we go to the cinema right now?”
“Yeah, I think”
Then, we walked to each floor because the cinema’s place is at the top floor.
“Yamada-senpai, want some iced tea?” I asked him when we arrived at cinema’s place. He nodded and smiled.
I left him and went up to the cashier. I ordered iced tea, cold coffee, and a large popcorn.
“This, senpai” I give him the iced tea
“Thank you. Are you gonna buy me popcorn?” he said after seeing that there’s only one popcorn bag.
I laugh a little “No, senpai. This is for both of us” I smile. He just nodded.
“Let’s go in now, senpai?” I ask. He agreed and we both walked towards the cinema room.
I looked around when found seats. Yeah, apparently may couples came to this movie too because it was a romantic genre.
“Yamada-senpai..” I looked at him. “Is really okay with you to watch this movie?” I asked for the last time.
“It’s okay, really. I only agreed to the movie because I don’t know what other movie I will watch” he said with a small laugh.
Oh god.. his laugh makes my heart throbbing fast now.
“Thank you, senpai” I thanked him again.
“Don’t thank me too much” I just smiled because of his words.
Yeah, finally Yamada- senpai and I talk a little. Our awkwardness passed away little by little.
During the movie, I often looked at Yamada- senpai- where he sat beside me. I wonder if he will enjoy this movie? It’s a romantic genre and I don’t think Yamada- senpai will like it. Still, when I looked at him, he looks like he’s enjoying it. When I saw that, I smiled.
“Megumi? What’s wrong?”
What? He really called my name? Hontou ni?!
“E-eh? Nothing, senpai. Hehehe” I grin. He just laugh a bit. Maybe because my act just now, I thought.

After the movie finished, we have get out the cinema room. Unintentionally, we smiled at each other..I don’t know the meaning of our smile. But, enough, it makes me happy.
“So.. how was the movie, senpai?”
“Uhm?” he looks like surprise when I asked. “Hm, yeah.. the movie is good. So romantic. I never go to the cinema and watch the romantic genre, but this movie is really good. Maybe I will try to find movies like this later” he said a bit long. “Because, usually I went to the cinema and always watched action movies” he added.
I smile when heard Yamada-senpai’s comments. Finally, he enjoys feeling comfortable with me. You know? Actually Yamada-senpai is a cool person. He rarely to talk to anyone -moreover the people is not his friend or not have a relation with him, he would not talk to them.
“Yokatta~ I’m glad that you are happy because of the movie, senpai” then, he smiled at me. “You know? I was afraid that you would not like it” he laughed after hearing my words
God.. thanks a lot for today...
“I should be the one who say thanks to you. Thank you because you brought me to watch this romantic movie” he said with his bright smile.
“You’re welcome, Yamada-senpai” I smiled too.
Not long after that, I ask him again:
“Yamada-senpai, are you hungry?” he nodded. “Jaa, let’s go to the restaurant?”
“Let’s go!”

We finished eating already. So now, this time we went back home because it was getting late.
But, suddenly...
“Megumi..”
“Hai? What’s wrong, senpai?”
“Can we go to the park before you go home?” he asked slowly.
“Eh? Why? Do you need something?” I asked back. He only nodded for his answer
“Jaa.. okay then. Ikou?”
10 minutes passed and we arrived at the park and sat on the bench seat. Just silence.
“Jaa, we arrived at park, senpai. What do you need in here?” I broke the silence.
“Megumi..” he looks at me “Can I ask something?”. It so sudden, my heart throbbing fast. I wonder what will Yamada-senpai ask me.
“U-un, of course, senpai..” I answered with a stutter.
“Anything I want?” he ask again. I just nodded hesitantly.
“What is your purpose to asked me to go to the cinema today? Please, answer honestly” his eyes looks at my eyes. I want avoid it..
“B-be-because... I.. I want...” I looked at him. He looked like he’s waiting for the words that will come out of my mouth. “I want.. to have speacial time.. with you” after that I looked down. I wasn’t brave to look at him.
“For what? You just admire me, don’t you? Then, why did you go this far?”
I look him again because of what he said.
“No, senpai.. It.. It just a lie. I don’t only admire you… But...” I don’t know why my eyes feel warm now
“But?”
“But.. I.. I .. I love you.. senpai..” finally my teary falling down. Then, he smile.
Yamada-senpai smiled? Why?
“Don’t cry, kouhai..” He wipe my tears on cheek
I look him again. But this time it was intently.
For the second time, he smiled again. Yet, this time he looked like he’s getting something out from the paper bag which he brought before.
“This.. for you” he said. He give me something.
“What is it, senpai?” I ask with tremble in my voice because of my tears before.
“Just open.” I opened it and took it out from the wrapper. There is a card that says happy birthday on it. I looked at him with question.
“This is your birthday, right? Otanjoubi omedetou, Megumi” he smile. “Please, take out the one in the box.”
For the second time, I followed his instruction. You know? After I opened the other one, my tears fell down again.
There is another box but more smaller than it. Then, when I opened the smaller one, there is a wrapper and a pink frame. I take it out the wrapper and read what he wrote.
Do you wanna be my girlfriend? I love you, Megumi
I look at Yamada-senpai unbelievable. Is it really?
“Y-Yamada.. s-senpai.. what.. is.. this..?”
“Just read, dear. Aren’t you read it, already? So, what’s the answer?” he ask with a teasing tone.
“I’m not at the dreamland, right? Is it really??” Yamada-senpai just laughing when heard my words
“You are not at dreamland, girl. It is real. See? You can feel my hand touching your hand, right?” he asked and then touched my hand. I just nodded slowly
“So, what’s your anwer?” he ask again
“Yes.. I do.. senpai..” I answered shyly but there is a smile on my lips. He smiled too.
My tears fell down again. I’m so thankful for God. This is really a special day for me
“Don’t cry, baby. Let me hug you?” he ask with teasing tone again and smile brightly. Yeah, finally he hug me tightly.

“U-un, of course, senpai..” I answered with a stutter.
“Anything I want?” he ask again. I just nodded hesitantly.
“What is your purpose to asked me to go to the cinema today? Please, answer honestly” his eyes looks at my eyes. I want avoid it..
“B-be-because... I.. I want...” I looked at him. He looked like he’s waiting for the words that will come out of my mouth. “I want.. to have speacial time.. with you” after that I looked down. I wasn’t brave to look at him.
“For what? You just admire me, don’t you? Then, why did you go this far?”
I look him again because of what he said.
“No, senpai.. It.. It just a lie. I don’t only admire you… But...” I don’t know why my eyes feel warm now
“But?”
“But.. I.. I .. I love you.. senpai..” finally my teary falling down. Then, he smile.
Yamada-senpai smiled? Why?
“Don’t cry, kouhai..” He wipe my tears on cheek
I look him again. But this time it was intently.
For the second time, he smiled again. Yet, this time he looked like he’s getting something out from the paper bag which he brought before.
“This.. for you” he said. He give me something.
“What is it, senpai?” I ask with tremble in my voice because of my tears before.
“Just open.” I opened it and took it out from the wrapper. There is a card that says happy birthday on it. I looked at him with question.
“This is your birthday, right? Otanjoubi omedetou, Megumi” he smile. “Please, take out the one in the box.”
For the second time, I followed his instruction. You know? After I opened the other one, my tears fell down again.
There is another box but more smaller than it. Then, when I opened the smaller one, there is a wrapper and a pink frame. I take it out the wrapper and read what he wrote.

I look at Yamada-senpai unbelievable. Is it really?
“Y-Yamada.. s-senpai.. what.. is.. this..?”
“Just read, dear. Aren’t you read it, already? So, what’s the answer?” he ask with a teasing tone.
“I’m not at the dreamland, right? Is it really??” Yamada-senpai just laughing when heard my words
“You are not at dreamland, girl. It is real. See? You can feel my hand touching your hand, right?” he asked and then touched my hand. I just nodded slowly
“So, what’s your anwer?” he ask again
“Yes.. I do.. senpai..” I answered shyly but there is a smile on my lips. He smiled too.
My tears fell down again. I’m so thankful for God. This is really a special day for me
“Don’t cry, baby. Let me hug you?” he ask with teasing tone again and smile brightly. Yeah, finally he hug me tightly.
“I love you, Megumi..”
