It was fun for a while... but we've all finally been proven wrong per the the final chapter of the manga. Oh well. I guess I'm glad my interest in Bleach in general diminished, so this wasn't a heart break, but for whatever reason, I just randomly looked around to find where Bleach was at this point and found out the last chapter has Ichigo and

The first time I had this in anime was ages ago, for Digimon Zero Two. Everyone, and I mean everyone assumed Taichi/Sora was gonna be canon to the point that nearly every ship, het, yaoi or otherwise wrote around this forgone conclusion. And then, the goddamn epilogue that gave us Yamato and Sora and no TaKari, which fandom is even more salty about honestly.

I learned after that debacle that nothing is canon until it's canon.

I also learned that one need not be restricted to canon to love what you love. As many have pointed out, this group still has the lion's share of fanfics and fanarts and Ichiruki changed the other's life for the better. This shitty Lost-inspired ending doesn't change any of that. I have plenty of crack ships I love in this fandom that never had a snowball's chance in hell of happening (O HI Byakuya/Isshin! :P)

The point is, I had good times with Ichiruki, and I'll still have good times writing for them. Especially when the rest of the ending was so incredibly lackluster that I have a feeling fandom will be filling holes for years to come.
