Beautiful!

So I didn't stay awake to see the height of the meteor shower, or wake up early (whatever way you look at it). The meteor shower started at 11:30 and the peak is predicted to be around 5:30 AM. So here I am, at 2 AM, writing down what I saw so I can remember this tomorrow. The picture is still fresh in my mind, however frozen it may be. There I was, walking out into the middle of a field with a cup of Wawa hot chocolate looking up at the sky. I decide to sit down and stay a while. I lay down for a bit, taking in the sky. The moon, full I believe, is shining the brightest I've seen it in the center of the sky. Around it is a ring, created by the cold atmosphere I guess, which seems to be forming a perfect circle of dim light. Then, there are stars and black-blue sky. I can see Orion, his three star belt curving in the sky immediately gives away where he is. Further outwards, there seems to be another circle, not quite as perfect as the one around the moon, formed by wispy clouds. These semi-cover the rest of the sky, like a milky fog covering some of the stars and revealing others. As I'm taking in this scene, I suddenly see a meteor shoot by. For less than a second, the burning mass of debris makes it's golden mark against the night sky. This makes me want to sit longer, although my hot chocolate is gone and I am beginning to get cold. I continue to stare at God's canvas and then another mark is made, this time a blue-red streak. This streak is a little longer than the last, yet no more beautiful. Shortly after, another golden streak is made. I lay in anticipation of the next set of marks, but the cold becomes too much. So an hour after I first stepped onto the field, I take one last look at the calming night sky and walk to my car already remembering an image I hope I don't forget any time soon.
