a friend of mine recently sent me a conversation he was having on a community board with an aquaintance, and i liked these parts of the convo and decided to share them with you all. i apologize if anyone is offended, but i do agree with the following excerpts. you dont have to agree with me, or the person who wrote these, and im not asking you too. all i ask is that you read this, and respect me for what i believe in, and not judge me on it. i believe that everyone is entitled to thier own opinions, and no one should be shot down, when voicing thier beliefs. i am now voicing my belief, so please if you have something nasty to say keep it to yourself. if youd like to state your opinion, then please by all means do so, but do so in a civil, and appropriate manner. this conversation was discussing Pope John paul the second, and Bush, and thier roles in modern society, dealing with such issues as AIDS, homosexuality, and womens rights.
The problem I have with certain political leaders, such as Bush, is
not their religious beliefs, but the attempt to insert those beliefs
into legislation that affects everyone
I have no respect whatsoever for raw stupidity, which is what, in my
opinion, it takes to be able to give oneself completely over to a
belief system that purports to worship the Prince of Peace, and
simultaneously advocates hatred, repression, and violence, as many
so-called-Christian sects do.
