Well...it finally happened I crashed my car. About a week ago there were reports that another snow storm was on it's way into the Mid-Michigan area again, and I really needed to get some laundry done, which for me means driving from my place on the southside to my mom's place in grand ledge. About a 20 min drive.
The plan was to leave early, avoid the craziness, and just spend the night at my mom's since it's less than a mile from Meijer where I work.
I made the unfortunate decision to take some back roads, and all was going great until this one spot. It was really windy out, and the snow drift had collected in this particular area, I drove through it, and bang! lost control of my car, pulled me hard to the right, and drove my car right into a ditch. The ditch really being this families front yard, where they had a large rock as a mailpost base. Smashed my front bumper up pretty good.
So I'm on the phone with my progressive agent, trying to arrange a tow to pull me out, when a guy driving by loses control of his car in the same snow drift, and side swipes me while I'm in the ditch. 2nd accident.
A woman flipped her van coming the other way, cops are called, he sees us in the ditch, comes over gives me a ticket for losing control of my car. Thanks officer, for showing up, doing nothing, and making a bad situation worse.
$120 ticket, $125 to get my car towed out of the ditch, $500 deductible, all in all the most expensive load of laundry I've ever done.
