Life...

It's been an interesting year so far.

We have a car now. Yay. Need to still get it in our name and get it licensed (which it's a bit overdue for), but we have a good, running car.

Work is still going all right. I tried to get a job in the new PetsHotel, but they wanted manager experience, and now another one is opening, and I still don't have the manager experience, but I'm hoping they'll at least give me a try. It looks like a lot of fun, although hard, work. The pay would be better though, which would REALLY help. We're still trying to get caught up from the DH being out of a job twice last year..

The doggies and ratties and now the kitty, yes, the cat, are all good. We allowed a throw away to bring her kittens into the house last year and after we got them adopted, she decided she was staying. So we named her Kisa, which is an accomplishment all by itself as the rats don't even have names.. heh.. ;)

The sad news starts with this.. My beautiful girl, Miss Tiny Shuffle, passed away one cold night in January. She was going to be 23 this year, which, for a horse, is pretty old, but not as old as I would have liked. She was a great mare, and I'm missing her an awful lot. I had her for almost 18 years though, and that is a LOT for me. At least I still have one of her sons, my paint gelding, Pago, and I still have my little guy Kiowa. I'm just a horrible mom lately and haven't gone out to pay much attention to them, which I really SHOULD as I never put anywhere near as much work into either of them as I did into her, and now I'm going to have to if I want them to live up to her legacy.

Also, about 2 weeks ago, my grandfather passed away. He was 90, which had been his goal for many many years, and for that we're all happy. His health was just not very great for the last several years of his life. He was a great man, and a wonderful grandfather. My husband has been proud to brag about MY grandfather's life accomplishments, which makes me grin. My grampa John B. Firth did have a lot of awesome ones.. He worked for Rockwell International and while there helped design several planes and bombers, and in his later years of working there, the Space Shuttles. He mostly designed the cockpits, but it was definitely his life's work. He worked there for about 60 years!! So we went to California for a whirlwind trip to attend the Memorial Service my father and his brother planned. It was very fun, all of my siblings and their families came(!), and also sad, as it was most likely the last time I'll ever spend in their house in Santa Monica. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done, driving away from that house on our way out of town..

The last thing was, when we got home, we went to my parents' house (who were still in Cali) to do some laundry (my dryer is dead!), and realized that my family's dog, Ziggy, who was about 15 and has been in pretty bad shape the last few months, was doing worse than usual. The next night he was even worse, and I told my parents he probably wouldn't make it for them to get home, and he didn't. Poor guy. He was a good dog. Black and tan dachshund. Again, lots of good times. He and my dog Zeppy were good friends when I lived at home.

So yeah, interesting.. The bright side was my friend Stephanie came to visit and we had fun together. I drove her out to the Great Salt Lake, and up to Memorial Grove downtown, and a couple other places, so she could take some pictures. Also, plans for this year's Anime Banzai are going pretty well. Lots of good things planned, dates locked in for this year AND next.. OH! and we finally got our DirectTV!! The hubby works for them now, so we get it for FREEEEEEE.. Huzzah!! *throws arms up* ;)

Hm.. yup. That's about it. <=] Ja!
