The week in review

* I've lost 23.2 pounds as of yesterday, which puts me just past the halfway mark. If I can keep it up at my current rate, I should be at or very near my target weight of 135 just in time for my doctor's appointment in October. Which would be awesome.

* Saw "Giselle In 3D" on Tuesday. It was one of those one-night-only special-event things at a local movie theater, and I figured why the hell not...seeing the Mariinsky (formerly the Kirov) doing Giselle would be worth missing class for. The ballet was great, but I wasn't as impressed with the 3D - it was fine when the dancers were standing moderately still, and the moment in Act II when the Queen of the Wilis was bourreeing RIGHT AT YOU like she was going to eat your face was pretty freakin' awesome, but things got mighty blurry when the dancers were running full-tilt around the stage. I am not a big fan of 3D. Still, I'm glad I went.

* That good mood evaporated pretty quickly, however, when I finally got home after spending 20 minutes stuck in traffic due to road construction, only to find that our air conditioner was dying. During a heat wave, naturally. I turned it off in the hopes that it was just frozen, and then had to try to sleep in a house that very quickly got to feeling like the Amazon rainforest. After 4 hours of sleep, I had to get up to go to work and face the fact that our not-even-6-year-old AC unit was Teh Deadz, which meant a frantic online search for a replacement. And since we have slider windows, that pretty much meant Sears, where the only option was $500. Luckily Mom had $100 in rewards points from replacing the roof in November, so we got our new unit. Which weighs 80 pounds. And which I had to install. By myself. In 98-degree weather. But I did it, and thanks to my frequent workouts it wasn't as difficult as the last time, although it still left me sore and with bruises all over my legs and upper arms.

* It also apparently messed up my left knee, the extent of which I didn't realize until I was about halfway through ballet class the next day. So I didn't get to work out on Friday because of it - if you can barely walk, it's probably not a good idea to try the stationery bike or the elliptical, and my shoulders hurt too much for weight training. The knee is still a bit wonky, but I'm hoping it heals up fast...there's less than a month to summer intensive, and I don't want to miss any more classes if I don't have to.

* And speaking of summer intensive, my skirt got here on Wednesday, and it's every bit as fabulous as advertised. It's shorter than I'm used to - I haven't worn skirts this short since my skating days - but it was a big hit in class. I may have to order or possibly make another one...later. ;-)

* I finally went through my closet and got rid of all the old pants that are now too big for me. (How in the world did I end up with 27 pairs of pants, anyway?) Three pairs are still - barely - wearable, but not for much longer. I was kind of unhappy that I had to give away the two pairs of gorgeous beaded corduroys I got some four years ago, but by the time it's cold enough to wear them, I'll be swimming in them. :-( Went to Goodwill to find replacements, and walked out with 6 pairs of pants, 4 shirts, two pairs of shoes (one of which are Asics runners), 3 belts, 3 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of denim capris, and a really pretty Ren-Fairish skirt suit, all for $100. And the pants? They're all size 12 and 14. There's something immensely satisfying about looking through the size 16s on the rack (of which there were many) and going, "Nope...too big". :-D

awesomeness, ballet, thrift shopping, seriously wtf?
