Ugh, what a day. :-P

Most of the department is taking a 5-day (or more) Thanksgiving holiday, so there are only three people to handle the workload of eight - one Specialist (me), one Designer (Jo) and our department manager. So I found myself doing not only my own work but also Brittney's, Marsha's, and even a few of Sandi's things. And I got it all done correctly and still managed to be finished by 3 PM, when management let us leave early. Granted I didn't get to take a lunch break and had to eat at my desk, but still...DO NOT TELL ME IT CAN'T BE DONE, Brittney and especially Marsha, because I am proof that IT CAN. You just have to quit whining and ditzing around.

And speaking of Stuff What Needs To Be Done, our print vendor sent an e-mail last night - after we'd all left for the day - telling us that they needed print approvals by 11 AM on Friday in order for our materials to mail on time (the materials, it should be noted, that they've had since noon yesterday). Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but Proofing is as shortstaffed as we are right now...we're looking at only having one proofer available on Friday unless Diane is willing to come in for a half-day. So we told the vendor that if they got our samples to us early, we'd have a better chance of making their deadline. They said they'd send them between 1 and 3 PM our time. So what time did they send them?

2:50 PM. TEN MINUTES before we were all due to leave. We basically just said "F**k it, they'll have to wait- we're not staying." I got them downloaded and half of them distributed to their proper e-folders, and I'll do the rest on Friday...along with sending Friday's mailing materials to the vendor, all the clerical stuff, and setting up about 50 or so broadcasts for proofing. x_x

And just think, I get to do this all over again at the end of the year when Marsha and Brittney take weeklong vacations at the same time. Whee.
