QOTD: “The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.”
If you believe in the superstitions of astrology, a full moon represents the ending or completion cycles. It does seem like my cycles are transitioning. Tonight is my last day at Avis, having one personal day approved for my regularly scheduled last day, Thursday. Last night at 10:15, my password expired (it expires every 45 days) and then the system removed me from its list of valid users. I guess the system is resentful of my imminent departure. First day at Verizon on Sunday. UN exam is nearing almost as rapidly.
My video test call for the YPP oral exam has been scheduled for Friday. This is a low-stress event, but I need to make some decisions of about backdrop for the actual call next week so I can test the real deal. Fortunately I have tomorrow off, so I should have a little time to work through that. I also found some good resources online for competency-based interviewing, which should prove very useful. I'm expecting to help Staci sometime this weekend put an entertainment center together with Jeff, so I'm going to try to make tomorrow a big UN-prep day, getting my webcam situation squared away and some likely questions locked in with good responses. After that, I'm thinking of maybe recalling some particularly stressful moments in my last few jobs so I can craft responses tailored to the skill sets proffered in the e-learning course on the UN Careers website. The video call notification email made a note of calls being placed in west-to-east zoning, starting in the Asia Pacific countries, which (if this holds true for the actual interviews) gives me an idea of where interviewers' headspace will be by the time they get to me. Going to build my responses to be brief, clear, and on-point. That's always a good plan, surely, but by that point no one's going to want to sit around listening to flowery narrations. Trying to pick what I can out of the limited communication to construct a more relevant candidacy.
Today I need to:
Eat breakfast
Go to the gym (2 days left before my schedule explodes and disrupts exercise)
Get through my last day at Avis
Eat a salad
Do laundry, including my work uniforms (for returning)
Have a celebratory drink at the end?
