QOTD: "Contrary to general belief, I do not believe that friends are necessarily the people you like best, they are merely the people who got there first."
I haven't been writing here much because the nights bleed through me. I had a reasonable three and a half day weekend for Thanksgiving. It felt a bit more like four, but the stuff I was able to get accomplished verified it was three. Going back to work was partially a relief since the PA photog was back from a two-week vacation. But it was still going back to work. Monday went remarkably well considering it was the Monday after a holiday. Of course then the PA photog brings me more PA work. I understand that PA can get overloaded and having any recourse at all is really helpful, but I'm not sure they understand the full hatred I have for actual photojournalistic work. Or maybe it's that the company doesn't understand what reasonable labor is. Actually it's the company driving their labor through the floor and clear through into our bones. My advice? Never, ever work for a contractor. If you think that you've found a good contractor that will treat you well, you are wrong.
Tonight I ate so much ice cream I passed out. I managed to lose enough of my night to miss my exercise plans. I really should be asleep right now. Hopefully I can regroup over the weekend. I haven't made food yet. I have enough for lunch tomorrow, but not dinner. I have a night shoot tomorrow (PA), so I kind of need to have something prepared. I think the ice cream was the only thing I actually ate tonight, so I probably should do that even though I'd really rather go to sleep. It's been difficult for me to go to sleep at night lately. I just won't turn off. I'm fighting myself again which means some part of me feels cheated for time. Cheated out of life.
patina found a wonderful
video for those of you with minds twisted a little too far and yet not nearly far enough.
Last week I photographed a man in a turkey suit. [sigh] No, no, actually he wasn't doing much of anything at all. PA, who sent me, was mortified at the outfit and decided it would be best to not use the photos. One day is much like the next.
Oh, and I got a
Nikon D3s for use at work. The fun thing is that we use CS3 at work and CS3's ACR doesn't support raw images from the D3s. I shoot all of my location work in raw. Yeah. And we don't have any wide to midrange focal length lenses in FX format. No lenses, no software support. Why did we buy a $5000 camera body, again? Hopefully the corrections to that situation are quickly resolved, as I requested, but that's a lot of money to fix. Only the tip of the equipment replacement list. One day is much like the next.
