I suppose that's something

QOTD: "One of the advantages of being disorderly is that one is constantly making exciting discoveries."

I'm already up too late again tonight to write all I want to write, but I did want to get in a small slice of something.

This afternoon we were called into a meeting (with direction to abandon the customer service desk, which never ever happens) where they read a letter from Contracting that essentially said that the government cost-benefit analysis in regard to our insourcing was flawed and that our insourcing action was being reversed immediately. So it looks like I won't be on unemployment starting in December. Though honestly I had been looking forward to the time off to work on my Russian. (yes, the language; I don't have a Russian tied up in my apartment) A coworker said she had been looking forward to cleaning up her parents' old estate in the northern part of the state. I said when they told us that we were no longer going to lose our jobs, I should've exclaimed, "Did it ever occur to you that maybe some of us wanted to lose our jobs‽" I'd never even seen this company owner before, so that would've made quite a first impression. Though he made quite the impression on me. He railed on government being bloated (when has it not been?) and blamed our upcoming insurance premium hikes on Obama's health care plan and said that if that plan keeps on like he wants it, we're likely to all just have a lump sum handed to us and be on our own for health care coverage. After recounting this to alicdeni83, she reminded me that I'm in the liberal/progressive part of the state, which is both true and sad.

I have very little food in my apartment. A meal consisting of a red onion and a bottle of vinegar would be unsavory.

unhappiness, career
