EUROVISION 2010

QOTD: "La Serbie: huit points!"

Incredibly, the final show was really pretty good. Despite Norway's unabashedly ABYSMAL technical performance as web hosts, the final only had moderate choppiness and looping - both of which made their debut appearance for an ESC webcast. (I can't overemphasize how atrocious the broadcasts went.) At least the final was watchable. Here are some highlights (not including the fan jumping on stage to dance with Spain):

GERMANY
Lena - "Satellite"
Winner, Eurovision Song Contest 2010
Pop song, bouncy. Reminds me a bit of Lily Allen.

MOLDOVA
Sun Stroke Project & Olia Tira - "Run Away"
Nothing like The Real McCoy.
A fun song with an unexpected sax and hip thrusting.
Good enough for me to show you, not good enough for me to buy their song.

BULGARIA
Miro - "Angel si Ti"
I really enjoyed this song.
The official video is neat and the performance has shiny men!
The dancers were out of sync and that was lame.

TURKEY
maNga - "We Could Be the Same"
Placed second this year and the only real rock entry.
Ever wanted to see a woman cut her way out of an exoskeleton?

UKRAINE
Alyosha - "Sweet People"
A lot more interesting than I expected it to be.
It started to grow on me as I listed to it more.

SERBIA
Milan Stankovic - "Ovo Je Balkan"
That hair, oh my.
If you watch it more than twice it may get stuck in your head.
You have been warned.

This is the one time of year I don't use cuts, so thank you for the space on your friends' pages. And if you wanted to see the gayest song this year, watch the official video for Switzerland's entry.

Congratulations, Lena! We'll see Eurovision 2011 in Germany!
