Still breathing

QOTD: "Fish is the only food that is considered spoiled once it smells like what it is."

It's been so long since I've actually written anything here, I almost don't remember how to do it. I've kinda been living in my own world lately. Haven't done anything especially exciting or noteworthy. At the moment, it seems like all of my life is in the future somewhere and none of it is here in the present. I suppose that's okay as long as it doesn't stay that way indefinitely. I continue to work on wedding photos. I have to do some film developing today, but I have to cook food for the week first. Meatloaf and baked salmon so far. Oh, as two separate dishes. I don't think I'd ever put salmon in meatloaf... or vice versa. Last week I photographed one of my salmon preparations.

Baked salmon on bamboo rice with peppers.

I still need to cook some ground sausage and link sausage and then marinate some shrimp and a significant portion of chicken. This last week I managed to get an entire cooked chicken from the Winn Dixie deli for $3.20, which I was especially pleased with. That, combined with steamed broccoli and mustard potato salad gave me total meals that were under $2 after tax. I bought some wine Friday that was more than I think I've ever paid for a bottle of wine (which isn't saying very much, I guess). It's okay, but I still favor Budini and it's far less expensive.

The electric company moved my billing due date back from the 7th to the 29th, which did not amuse me. They'll be getting their money late because that's just a bunch of asshattery. I found one of my last H&M receipts and, based on that, I need more money to go shopping in Atlanta next month, but I don't think I'll be able to save much more given that Christmas is approaching and my pay periods for the rest of the year are short. Maybe I'll get called out on lots of alert calls next week and rake in the overtime. I find that unlikely.

Many of my plants on my balcony are not enjoying the cooler weather. The grape and several of the peppers are visibly unhappy. The Caribbean pepper and the goji plants seem to be doing quite well, however. The tomatoes look as sad as they ever have, which is to say they look normal. I planted some lily bulbs that I ordered through a catalog. I don't really know how to handle bulbs, but they were essentially free, so I think that's a good way to start learning.

That's all I've got for now.
