QOTD: “That's the difference between me and the rest of the world! Happiness isn't good enough for me! I demand euphoria!”
Happy birthday to
monsieurxander! Had to get that in before the day was over.
Bought some new shoes yesterday. Nothing special, just replacements for the shoes I already had that were literally falling apart. Today I went to both Hudson's in Hattiesburg and bought photo frames, a shirt, and a pair of jeans. I ended up going back for more of one of the photo frames because I liked it so much, but I was only able to get one more as two women arrived immediately prior to me and got the remaining two. If I hadn't been able to get one, I think I might've had to kill them. The Hudson's on 49 has a decent selection of nice dress/formal shoes along with a few athletic shoes. Recognizable names such as CK, Kenneth Cole and Diesel. Found a pair of Kenneth Cole's that I really, really liked, but couldn't find in my size. That made me especially angry because I had committed to spending more than I was wanting to on these shoes because I had decided that I really liked them. Oh well. I won't be able to afford them at retail price, so I guess that's that. I'm pretty pleased with my purchases today. Bought Contact on DVD finally. I think I might watch it tomorrow before I go to work for the massive inventory at 8PM.
I stopped at Wal-Mart today to get the cream cheese I needed to make the cherry tort I've been trying to make for a few days now. Found that an oriental mix I like was on sale for twenty cents, so I got a pack. would've gotten more, but two days prior I'd bought two. I don't have enough chicken to justify buying more of the mix and the mix doesn't make enough to justify buying more chicken. Though it is VERY good.
Watched the last half of Red Planet yesterday, which I really rather liked, though I think I started in just after the best crisis stuff. I can see how it wouldn't succeed in an American audience. It's really just a really big story. Not a whole lot of flashy stuff. From a sci-fi standpoint, I thought it was wonderful. From an exploration standpoint, I thought it was outstanding. Also watched Star Trek: First Contact, which came on right after that. Watched the beginning of Stargate as well as the end, since I'd never seen the movie before and just wanted an I idea of how the series had spawned. Was interesting to see which characters rolled over into SG-1.
Cashed in my free Chik-fil-A sandwich today. Got a young thing earning his ears at the register. The supervisor taught him how to deal with a coupon and I felt useful. "Thank you very much," I said to him as he avoided eye contact. "My pleasure," he said, almost as an afterthought, after I'd turned to leave. I couldn't help a genuine smile and then a scarcely supressed laugh by the time I hit the door. Only a few personalities respond with that kind of remark in that way. Haven't met many. I didn't want the order to go, but it didn't matter one way or the other, so I took it home.
Got my rebates today from the thumb drive I bought for my grandfather for Christmas. It should about offset the amount I spent today. Breaking even day after day. What a curse. Handy for when money is tight, but a real pain when trying to do anything else. Gotta remember to pay my car note on the 25th. No later than the 25th. If my direct deposit connected on this pay cycle, then I can write out of that account, but if it didn't, I need to use a different account. Arg. I need to sit down and do some work tomorrow to get everything worked out. My electric bill was $100 even this month. $20 up from last month and I used less power. Apparently there were 35 days in this billing period. Ugh. Maybe there'll be 25 in the next one. This throws off my budgeting, but I've got extra money in my primary check-writing account at the moment and I don't know why. This is hopeful and disconcerting. Will have to compare cleared checks to figure out what's up.
Got my Shutterfly photos in today. Forgot to specify matte finish, so I'm not happy. However, my Katrina bridge photos look badASS in one of my new frames. Looks so good. It looks so good that I feel better about my life. That means I've created art. I hit within the 0.001 margin of perfection. Clearly, I haven't been paying hommage to the photographic patron saint of photo frames. [looks at photos in frame] I'll set up a shrine immediately.
