It's too hot out for casual gallavanting

QOTD: “Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself. There never was a democracy yet that did not commit suicide.”

I finished off my Scala yesterday doing some UV stuff. Wandered around campus and realized there was a Preview going on. If I were looking for people shots and I was really extrovertial, I could've really racked up. Ended up being forced to walk through the Union as I routinely forget how much the Union expansion construction blocks transit stadium-side. Noticed Michael I. as I passed through and once on the other side, I noticed some flowers that I decided to photograph. Unfortunately for all UV photography yesterday, it was rather windy. Would've really liked to have been using a polarizer as well, but that would've just lengthened my exposure. I botched the last two exposures on the Scala pretty severely. On one, I misread the exposure setting and on the last one (of the same shot!) I managed to leave the lens cap on. Ah well. I realized not too long ago that the Scala is actually cheaper than the Provia I've been using since local processing costs more than mail-out Scala processing... which is scary. When I got back to my apartment, I couldn't find the Scala mailer, which really pissed me off since it'd been rolling around here getting the way for forever. I found it some hours later, stuffed in the back of a shelf. Put it in the mail today, so it should go out in a few hours. No idea how long it will take to get it back. I hope it doesn't come back as mounted slides. That would really piss me off. They didn't have a space for special instructions, so maybe they'll just send me back the cut negs. I don't want them cut, but I'd rather have them cut than cut and mounted. I don't have any storage sheets for mounted slides.

I also started shooting a roll of color with the UV exclusive filter on. Did them all "with and without filter." Hopefully I'll get some meaningful comparison images. Started underexposing by half a stop on later shots just because I got the feeling that I should. I don't have any other way to gauge the exposure other than the built-in meter, so my results should be really interesting. I wish I'd finished off the roll so that I could've taken it to Wal-Mart last night when James and I made a run. Forgot about the gift card Sean graciously and magnanimously sent to me, which annoyed me sharply when I realized it after I got home, but I think it will come in much more useful around moving time when financial reserves hit the floor.

Anyhow, I'm really looking forward to getting that Scala back. It'll probably take eighty weeks. Ha. Gabe was the only one that I was able to get photos of on that roll. Really want to get the color film finished off and developed. Maybe I'll do that today. I have the feeling I should be using a warming filer on it, but I don't have one and I don't have anything to back that hunch up, so that's a no-go on the warming filter.

WinAmp is skipping and Task Manager says it's Firefox's fault, so I'm ending this and reopening the browser.
