“This one’s a teddy bear, I think. Maybe a hippopotamus.”

“That one looks like an octopus. But with two heads. Or a dragonfly”

“Hmm, I think that one… that one’s a star.”

“Nah, that one looks like star-shaped fireworks,” Shishido said, pointing up at a cloud in the sky, “and that one looks like a whale, a white whale,” he said, pointing to a different one.

“I think you have tennis on the brain Shishido,” Ohtori said, laughing, “White whale? Hakugei. Star-shaped fireworks? Hoshi Hanabi. Dragonfly? Like Kagero Zutsumi? How much have you been talking to Fuji-san lately?”

“Why not?” Shishido shrugged; “we talk about tennis, which I consider very important by the way, and about our boyfriends, and about all sorts of things. He and I get along very well, and we can trade beauty tips too.”

“Yes, Fuji-san is very sexy. Should I warn Tezuka-san he has some competition?”

“Super lame, Choutarou,” Shishido replied with a laugh, “I don’t think so.”

“I guess I could always go to Mukahi-sempai or Oshitari-sempai for my own tips,” Ohtori mused.

“Mukahi doesn’t deserve to be called sempai by you, Choutarou, they’ll just warp your mind and scar you for life. Again. Do you remember what happened last time you went to them for relationship help?”

“Well I went to Oshitari-sempai for help, Mukahi-sempai just happened to be there.”

Shishido snorted, “Mukahi is always there, especially when Oshitari is concerned. He’s like a flexible, inappropriate barnacle or something.”

“Ah, so maybe I should stop those practice kissing sessions I’ve been having with them,” Ohtori answered teasingly, “I mean, if Shishido doesn’t approve…”

Shishido didn’t respond verbally, rather leaned over and lightly thwapped Ohtori on the arm. Ohtori laughed again, but this time it seemed slightly forced, and the two of them fell into a comfortable silence. With the end of the year rapidly approaching, Shishido had appeared at Ohtori’s dorm room, and announced to the younger boy’s roommate that he was dragging Ohtori out for the day so the two of them could unwind together.

Ohtori’s roommate hadn’t batted an eyelash, as he was used to his roommate’s doubles partner showing up randomly and dragging the taller boy off. He actually thought it was a good thing, as Ohtori had the tendency to get overly wound up, and Shishido was one of the few who could get him to relax. So that was how the two of them ended up spending the beautiful almost-spring day outside, together. They understood each other, and usually didn’t need words to convey to one another what they were feeling, but the years in Hyoutei had refined everyone’s knack toward secrecy and suspicion, something not even the close relationship the two of them had could always break through.

“Ano… ne, Shishido…”

Shishido Ryou looked over at his partner, pleased that Choutarou was finally getting used to leaving the -san off his name. He never called him Ryou outside the bedroom, and Shishido was trying to break him of that habit. Currently, the aforementioned silver-haired boy was also lying on his back looking up at the clouds. The two of them were lying side by side on a blanket in the grass, taking the time to savor the moments they had together, while there was still time. Shishido could tell that the taller boy was worried about something, and that was why he had decided on this impromptu outing when he did.

“Ne, Shishido,” Ohtori continued, still looking up at the sky, “do you think we’ll still be able to do this next year? Do you still there will still be time?”

Shishido let a small smile appear on his lips before quickly wiping it away and sighing softly. So that was why his partner had been so nervous, because he was afraid that he would lose his partner, his lover, when Shishido went away to college. Shishido was almost done with high school, but Ohtori still had one more year to go. They had finally gotten together as a couple in Shishido’s first year of high school, and Ohtori was still in Hyoutei’s Junior High. Ohtori had gathered up his courage and given him chocolates for Valentine’s Day, and in return, Shishido had given him a kiss for his birthday. Ohtori felt his heart twist at his sempai’s long silence, when Shishido took off his hat and laid it to the side as he ran a hand through his hair.

“Choutarou,” he began, no longer looking at Ohtori, “do you remember what I told you on Valentine’s Day last year, on our one year anniversary?” Ohtori looked over at him and nodded, his expression innocent. “Well it still applies now. I love you now and I love you then. No matter what, I’ll love you forever and for always, because you are my dear one(1).”

“Shishido, I-I-”

“I know Choutarou,” Shishido murmured, turning back to face Ohtori and placing a finger on his lips to silence him, “I know.” Ohtori was the only one who could get him to act like this. One puppy-eyed look from him, or a smile, and Shishido would be putty in his hands. Not that he ever let Choutarou know this. He reached over with his free hand, and laced his fingers through Ohtori’s, squeezing gently. They could each feel the others calluses, a result of all the many years they had spent playing tennis. “What we have is too strong to broken apart by us being in different schools. It’s only one year, and we can still see each other. Only-the times might be a little strange depending on when my classes are.” Shishido’s heated blue gaze was piercing, searing with lust and love, both directed at the boy next to him, and Ohtori felt a floating sense of relief fill him.

“Thank you Shishido,” Ohtori responded, his eyes shining with happiness, “I’m just scared that you are going to find someone to replace me.”

“I could never do that,” Shishido replied vehemently, “we are Hyoutei’s D1 pair, and you are my Choutarou, my partner and my love, not just my lover, and we’ll always be together. I’m not going to leave you for my lab partner or Atobe-buchou, or even for someone else in tennis. And you’re the only doubles partner I want.” As Ohtori had discovered, Shishido’s lab partner this year had been very clingy, and as the science class had taken up much of Shishido’s time, so had his lab partner.

She had fancied herself to be Shishido’s girlfriend, no matter how much Shishido protested, and, like a number of the Hyoutei girls, knew about Ohtori’s crush on the dash specialist. What they didn’t know, however, was that is wasn’t just a crush, and Ohtori’s love was reciprocated in full force by Shishido. It had taken a public display of Shishido grabbing Ohtori by his uniform vest and pulling him down to kiss him in front of the girl to convince her that, no, he didn’t like her, and yes, he was already taken. She had done a very good impersonation of a fish out of water at that, and Shishido had followed up by wrapping his arms around his partner’s waist and smirking, very proud of himself, while both his lab partner and his partner in everything else stood there shocked. Shishido smiled at the memory of the dozen shades of red that Choutarou had blushed that day.

“I’m sorry Shishido,” Ohtori said with a pout, “I guess I was a little jealous-”

“You had the right to be,” Shishido snorted again, cutting the taller boy off, “what with the way she was acting, I think the whole team was surprised I kept my patience that long. You’re mine and I’m yours. And well, I wanted to keep this a surprise until you joined me in college next year, but once you start there, I’m going to buy an apartment so we can live together. I’ve already started looking and saving my money.”

Ohtori gaped at him, and once he regained his bearings, Shishido found himself with an armful of happy kohai. Shishido grinned, glad he could make his partner feel better, and let Ohtori bury his head into his chest as he sniffled his thanks. Then, with a devious smirk, Shishido rolled them over on the blanket so that he was now on top and straddling Ohtori’s thighs and stomach.

“You’re heavy,” he said simply, “and I’m older besides. You should be underneath me.”

“Hai, Shishido,” Ohtori agreed with a smile, his anxiousness now mostly gone, “but only as long as it’s you.”

“I am serious Choutarou,” he continued, “I’ll love you until the sun rises in the west and sets in the east and the stars no longer burn in the sky.” He entwined his hands in Ohtori’s once again, and leaned down to rest his forehead on top of his. He could feel Choutarou’s hot breath washing over him, and he was sure Choutarou could feel his also.

Shishido pressed his lips to Ohtori’s, and Ohtori responded passionately and with equal fervor. They broke apart for a few seconds for air before continuing, and Shishido released Ohtori’s hands to cup the silver-haired boy’s face. Ohtori slipped his hands up the back of Shishido’s shirt, stroking his lover’s skin, caressing the hard muscles he could feel underneath. He felt something flick against his lips, and he opened them to grant Shishido entry, their tongues dueling for dominance. Shishido could feel Ohtori’s erection poking into his backside, and he rolled his hips so that Ohtori could feel his own excitement better; though the way his pants were tented he would have been surprised if Ohtori couldn’t see it. Ohtori let out a low moan, and he was breathing harshly.

“Shishido!” he yelped trying to bat Shishido’s hands away as Shishido sat up and began to unbutton Ohtori’s school uniform with his usual speed, “not-not here! Anyone could see us!”

“Since when have I cared?” Shishido responded, his voice tapering off into a growl. He slid his hands into Ohtori’s shirt, caressing the smooth, hard skin of his chest. “No one’s going to come by anyway, so who’s gonna see?”

“Shishido…”

“We won’t go all the way, but we’re still gonna have some fun. You like it and you want it; I know you do.”

“Ah, aah, oh! Shishido~!”

“That’s improvement, but I want you to say my name, Choutarou, say it. We’ll break you of this politeness habit eventually. Ryou. It’s really not that hard.”

“Nnnnh, please Shishido!” Ohtori groaned, his mind foggy with pleasure.

“Nope!” Shishido was grinning obscenely as his squirming lover underneath him, whose clothes were open and was panting for breath. He placed a hand on Ohtori’s toned chest, lightly running his fingers over the quivering muscles. Slowly, teasingly, he simultaneously unbuttoned his own uniform pants, lessening some of the pressure there as his erection bounced out, though still slightly trapped by his boxers. He rubbed himself harder against Ohtori as he watched and waited for Ohtori to react. Not getting the reaction he wanted yet, as Ohtori was still dazed and slightly embarrassed, he reached down and curled a hand around himself, stroking it for Ohtori to see as he made his own arousing  noises. A light bulb went off in his head as he remembered the uh, movie, he had walked in on Mukahi and Oshitari trying to show to Choutarou that one time. “Mmmm yeah… I want you Choutarou, so bad,” he moaned sensually, “don’t you want this too? Ohhhh, that’s-”

Suddenly Ohtori snatched out an arm and grabbed Shishido by the back of his neck, pulling him down for a passionate kiss. Shocked, at first Shishido didn’t respond, but when he did, Ohtori started to pull back.

“Ryou,” he murmured as he lay back and gazed into Shishido’s eyes, “I love you Ryou. And thank you, for everything. Even if you are a tease.” He ran a hand down the side of Shishido’s face and neck oh-so gently, lightly tracing the sharp angles and smiling.

“I love you too, Choutarou.” Shishido said tenderly, as he wrapped his arms around him, “you’ll be by my side forever, there’s no need to worry about the future now, just focus on me, on now, on us.”

“Forever and for always?”

“Yes koi. Because you are my Dear One.”

(1) “I’ll love you forever and for always because you are my Dear One.” Is a quote from Mama Do You Love Me? by Barbara Joosse, a book that my mother used to read to me when I was a younger. It’s a beautiful story, yes, it is a children’s book, but the quote fit so well and is very special to me, so I wanted to use it

...this is my first ever tenipuri fanfic, and my first ever yaoi fic, so please be kind!
apologies to my f-list, x-posted to

In my world, Shishido and Ohtori are really close with the golden pair and Fuji, not enemies with Seigaku
