Some things that happened to me recently:
1. Husband's sister and brother-in-law came up to visit. We had not seen them in about 21 years, and we had a great time with them. Went down to the Seward Sea Life Center, which is amazing. And I climbed a mountain with them in order to see a glacier. It was INCREDIBLE. INCREDIBLE.
2. Been taking care of my Mother, and that is close to a full time job in itself. It's like having a toddler, but one who lies and is constantly passive-aggressive. I thought I had pretty good patience, but I've had to tear down it down and rebuild it in order to better deal with her pettiness and tantrums.
3. Took Mom to the State Fair, which was fun, but mostly just exhausting. Also took Mom to Homer for her birthday weekend, with much the same physical and mental results. Have also been hitting any quilt shop I can get to while traveling, to pick up this year's Row X Row blocks. Have also been collecting lots of sand!
4. Moved my craftroom from upstairs to downstairs, so that Mom could have the upstairs bedroom, which is closer to a bathroom, and so she doesn't have to go up and down the stairs as much with her poor mobility. The move took a long time because I had very little help, except for at the final push. Dino then also put lots of shelves up in the new craftroom and it is pretty awesome. All in all I am happy with the results, and it gives me some distance and a much needed retreat from Mom when required, since she will only come down the stairs when she wants to ask me to buy her something.
5. While moving the craftroom, I may have broken a toe. Because of my peripheral nerve damage, I didn't feel it. I thought it was just bruised and swollen. But after weeks, the swelling hadn't gone away. Doctor who looked at it said it looks like it might have been broken, but that it healed okay. She didn't order x-rays but has referred me to a podiatrist.
6. Earlier this week, I found black bear scat (BIG pile!) in the front yard one morning. We've also smelled he/she around several times. There is no mistaking that musk funk. But we haven't seen him/her, and we haven't seen any damage or other evidence in the neighborhood, but talked to the neighbor about keeping her kitty inside more, and we're being extra cautious when we go outside.
