For the third time since we've lived here (about 4 years?), someone hit and damaged our mailbox. The first time, we had to replace the box and post. The second time we had to replace the box. The barrel that the post lives in was also bashed and shifted over by several inches, but was still in good enough shape to not replace. Then, last night, someone hit it again and knocked the box off the post. No damage to either, but it mangled the fitting that attaches the box to the post. We know it happened at midnight (12:01 to be exact) last night, because we checked our security camera footage (cameras installed after the break-in attempt on our garage earlier this year). Unfotunately, footage isn't clear enough to see anything identifying.
It's a holiday weekend, and a lot of our neighbors have had people visiting and partying. So likely someone was leaving a neighbor last night, tipsy enough to back into our mailbox. That's what we figured happened the first time too. The second time we think it might have been the garbage truck, but don't know for sure. At any rate, Dino was able to repair this time without expense, but it's still frustrating that this keeps happening.
