[What's this? Samus doing a normal office log? Yeah pretty much.
She's been a little mopey lately and seeking PRIVATE TIME to work out this residual mope. So any time this week after class-hours you might find her holed up in her office or her classroom with the door slightly ajar, probably working on a huge piece of mechanical what-the-heck-is-

There are some quick taps at the door, and even though it is ajar the intruder stands politely staring at the door waiting for a response.
Never mind that he is clearly visible through the crack of the open door. It is a blue-haireded man dressed sloppily in a half unbuttoned white dress shirt and some dark camo pants.]

Gage, right?

Yep. And you're the Armed Weaponry teacher, Ms. Aran?

I'm interested in some of the more... advanced and unique weaponry I've seen at this school. I want to learn some of the ballistics theory behind them so that I can apply it to my lessons.
[Definitely not suspicious at all nope]

[STARE OF CONSIDERATION]
What weapons are you familiar with already?
Reply
I mean the likes of normal, bullet-firing handguns, rifles, machine guns... vehicle-mounted missile launchers, rockets, naval artillery. Similar things in that general field.

[Tinker tinker with the conglomeration on her desk] The ballistics of a weapon that isn't firing a solid round, such as laser beam, or ice beam, might be more difficult to calculate without hands-on experience. You need to be very acquainted with any weapon you use before you can hope to teach someone else how it works.
Wave beams can penetrate some materials and keep their trajectory, while your standard pistol laser will ricochet off or be absorbed entirely, for example.

That sounds like exactly what I need to know.

You ever work with one of these?

I'm not familiar with the design.

The longer the charge, [Oh no Gage she is holding down the trigger and pointing it at you. SHE FIRES and jk she was actually aiming at the wall behind you. The larger pink bolt of energy smacks into the wall and spiders out tendrils of electricity upon impact until it too dissipates.] ...the farther the shot.

[He nods. There is apparently so much wrong with his understanding of how plasma works; he seems a little bewildered, though his expression is still mostly blank.]
...seems simple enough in application... though I confess I don't really understand how plasma, superheated matter, right...? ...can be used to stun, or grapple, or form a whip?
((feel free to go where you want with this, with offscreen explanations or later tutoring or anything, I don't want to force you to type up like a bajillion word explanation of how fictional plasma works))

Just this particular weapon is multi-functional. Plasma is a rather loose term, actually. It can be energy particles so condensed they form laser beams, or a form of gas so superheated that it forms actual plasma--fire. It's difficult to explain. [Samus knows better how to aim and shoot the damn things, Gage you should be asking Lash this extremely technical crap probably.]
Maybe try taking one of the ray guns from the Stadium's supply closet and go hit some targets with it to get a better understanding.

Sure. I'll let you know if I have any questions after I try it. or if I accidentally laser whip my face off
