I have no idea where else to post this.
2 1/4 Cup Flour (all purpose, nothing special)
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Whisk these together
In another bowl
1 cup of butter or margarine at room temperature
3/4 Cup of white sugar (table sugar)
3/4 Cup of packed brown sugar
Mix this together thoroughly
add;
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 Large eggs (one at a time)
Mix all that in
Now add the flour mixture to the wet stuff, about 1/3 at a time. Don't try this all at once, make life easier. Once that's all mixed nicely
Add the chocolate chips (alternately you can chunk up a semisweet chocolate bar - but make sure the chunks are fairly small) About a cup worth, more if you like more (My sisters use two Cups). Less if you're a fan of cookie rather than chocolate.
Add chopped nuts if you like them, about a Cup worth. I like walnuts or almonds.
Drop by teaspoon full onto an ungreased cookie sheet (but if you want them to actually come off the sheet spray it with a little canola oil.
Bake in a 375 degree F oven for 10 to 15 minutes. The cookie should be evenly brown and not doughy in the center. My oven actually takes 18 minutes to make a crisp cookie. Your mileage may vary.
Take it out of the oven and sit it on the counter for a few minutes before prying them off the cookie sheet. Then let them cool on a wire rack as long as you can stand it or 5 minutes.
Serve with milk or cocoa or coffee. Crumbled onto ice cream. Or plain as breakfast as you run out the door, if they last till morning.
When completely cool they can be stored in a plastic bag with a paper towel in it so they don't get soggy. Should they last that long.
