I got bored while waiting for yarn to ship and decided to start up a lace tablecloth. I've never done one before, but the pineapple stitch is starting to be a favorite of mine and I happen to have a ball of crochet thread lying around.
Anyway, I'm using the smaller crochet hooks from my grandmother's kit and it's taking some time to get used to using a size 8 hook. Before this, the smallest sized hook I've ever used is an F, which is still pretty big in comparison. I don't even know how to describe the itty bitty hook on the end of the 8. At least this is teaching me to pay attention to my stitches, because it's really, really easy for them to slip off or for the thread you yarn over to fall off the hook. Treble crochet is particularly hard for me right now, because if one of your yarn overs slips off, the second yarn over tends to follow.
Good practice though. And the crochet thread combined with the small hook size makes for a really pretty lace finished product. Can't wait to see how this will turn out:
