Thermostat in my car said the outside temperature was 109 around 2:00 this afternoon. GAH.
30 Days of Fanfiction Meme, Day 25:
25 - Music - Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?
It really depends on what I’m writing. One year, I spent the entire month of NaNoWriMo listening to a single CD on repeat and in another year, any little sound distracted me to the point where I put on noise cancelling headphones as soon as I sat down at my computer. I don’t purposely create playlists for certain moods or fics - mostly because I have no talent whatsoever in making them - but my iPod has ESP and knows what I need to listen to in order to pick up the pace. Story getting too heavy? Oh look, here’s a happy, peppy song right after a string of cry-in-your-beer angstfest tunes! Story need a little bit of romance? Hey, here’s a sultry number I bet you forgot we had on here because it’s been so long since you’ve last heard it! Gotta love the random mode.
Baby blanket is coming along. After the initial shell pattern row, the following shell rows come along super fast. I'm doing this in a bright, bubblegum pink yarn, but I think it would look adorable in a lemon yellow, pale green or soft lavender too. If I modify the pattern a bit and take out one or two shells, I could probably make it a bit narrower, which would cut down the crochet time considerably. Will be working on this like crazy this weekend.
But now, writing. (Why is it that when I put them together, all Varric and Isabela ever want to do is place bets on Elsa? They should know by now that she's going to steal their money, no matter who wins.)
And I'm kinda in love with this band:

I was looking through a few videos and I could swear that some were taken at TRF. The sad (or awesome, depending on how you look at it) thing - even with the bare minimum of clues as to where they were, I can pick out exactly where they're at on the grounds. *SIGH* Why isn't it October yet? Hell, why isn't it September yet? Sherwood Forest is having a Celtic festival late in the month, which sounds amazing. Hopefully the weather will cool down enough so that wandering about in layers plus a corset won't equal overheating. You can't gawk at men in kilts if you're passed out, you know!
