FP and I just got home from a really nice night out to dinner and fun shopping. I finally managed to finish the necklace I was working on, so I wanted to go visit one of the beading stores here in town to feed my new addiction. We stopped there after we put our name in at the restaurant since it was going to be an hour's wait, and I talked to the lady that worked there about classes and stuff. I'm totally thinking about taking some classes now.
So then we had dinner, and then FP wanted to stop by Barnes and Noble afterward so he could spend some of his Christmas gift mon-ay, so we did. I went straight for the beading magazines, and he went straight for sci-fi, and when I had exhausted the magazine possibilities, I headed for the craft section to see what kind of beading books they had. I'd been hanging out there for about 15 minutes when FP comes up to me going, "Hey, I've been looking all over for you." And I was like, "Well, I've just been here," all big-eyed and innocent. And then I ignored him and looked through more beading books.
So he's kinda standing around waiting for me to get done so he can check out, when I hear him go, "The Anticraft? That looks interesting..." And my ears perked up a little, and I went, "What? Really?" And I looked at the book he was looking at, and I thought...that sounds familiar...why does that sound familiar? And then I looked at the author, and it was no less than my lj-pal
ne_today's new crafty book! Right out front, prominently displayed with all the other featured new crafty books! I was like, "Dude! I know her! This is Ne's book!" Sweet!
So now I'm all curious. The pics and graphics and stuff inside are really cool, and I'm wondering who took the pics and if the prepared crafts that were in the pics were ones that Ne put together herself and how much input she got into the look of the book. And, and, and...
Oh, I should add I especially like that it has the whole built-in book cover/dust jacket thing. Those are especially useful with crafty books, I think.
Anywho, here's a little bit of free advertising for Ne. If you like crafts but you can't stand all the homespun, too-cutesy stuff that you'd see in most craft malls,
The Anticraft may be for you. (Ne, it's getting awesome reviews on Amazon!)
