It's just so nice out today... It's days like these that make me think the hunter/gatherer nomad type peoples had it right. Imagine what they'd say about cubicles...
My fancy new work desk phone will give me a weather report, though. Thanks, Phone. Like I needed to see YOU gloating. :p Mumble, mumble, mumble...
I did, however, get to spend a few hours out in the glorious sunny weather Saturday afternoon. Got my old big blue blanket and spread it out under the big maple tree in back, kicked off my sandals, weighed down the corners with shoes and drinks and whatnot so they wouldn't flip all over the place, stretched out on my belly, got out my book and read for a solid hour and a half. :) I got spooked a couple times by the shirtless and sweaty, tan and muscled garden maintenance guy who was cleaning out the dead stuff that had accumulated over the winter in the formal garden out back. Perhaps he was spooked by the barefoot, reclining, super pale, "undertoned" barely 30 girl reading under the tree. Who's to say? Heh. As the narrator from Babe would say, we "regarded each other" more than once, keeping a respectful distance, him bopping along to whatever played through his earbuds, me absentmindedly kicking my feet behind me to my own inner music, enjoying the feel of the light breeze on my freakishly long and unmanicured toes.
Ahhh.
Lol...freakishly long and unmanicured toes. You all love reading this, don't you? Admit it!
Anyway, it was nice. It was relaxing. It was good. I need more afternoons like that.
FP and I went clothes shopping on Sunday, at which point I discovered precisely how "undertoned" I had become over the winter. Yeesh. It probably didn't help that I went at the height of that-time-of-the-month bloat (at least that's what I'm telling myself), but it was a little hard for my ego, particularly after having been good as gold on my diet and exercise last week. I have added motivation now, though. Back up on the horse for me. I will kick this diet's ass and make the stationary bike my bitch.
I did manage to find some new clothes that I think will shrink along with me nicely. A funky, tied-to-the-side, black and white stripey button up shirt, and a cool multi-colored super-long wafty skirt. Plus a couple tank-tops and a t-shirt from Old Navy. I intended to get some khakis while I was out, but I think I will save that for a post-bloat shopping trip. Funky clothes make me kinda want to buy some funky shoes, but I just can't make myself do it. I've always been one of those people who has 4 or 5 pairs of shoes max at any given time. Just the basics.
But now I'm back at work, wearing some of my new "duds." Steve, the mail guy, who I told you about last week, did get the award we nominated him for, and he brought us all tulips to say thanks today. Very sweet. :)
Aaaand, that's about all I've got, I think. No big plans this week.
Except for Secretary's Day on Wednesday! Or Administrative Professionals Day. Whichever you prefer. My bosslady is taking CS and me out to this new little Victorian tea room for lunch that day. I've only been there once, but everything there is very flowery and dainty and fancy. It reminded me of the picture
becofoz showed me from high tea back in London.
No high tea today, though. A nice chef salad instead, which I will be leaving to eat just as soon as the nursing faculty finish their lunch in the breakroom. Ok, girls! Hurry!
