Roses and birds

Apr 14, 2012 13:51

Everyone's roses have been blooming for about a week now, which is about three weeks early for everything but the Knock Outs (which are overachievers and start blooming in early April every year), but that's been the story of this year.

Here are the Knock Outs. The hot pink-to-red ones are my mom's, and the paler pink are my next door neighbors'.

I couldn't entirely capture it with the camera, but I really liked the way the sun was shining through the petals of this one, making it almost seem to glow from within.

Roses as far as the eye can see!

Uh, actually, I meant that literally. These put the "bush" in "rosebush."

More in the back.

Pansies and some garden doodads, just because.

These are actually yellow roses, but they bud a bit reddish.

The rest are from a single bush another neighbor has. I'm not sure what variety they are.

I also caught a sparrow taking a bath in the new birdbath.
