Well, that was fun! The writer, Lisa Joy, was also responsible for my favorite episode of last season ("Where There's Smoke"), so I squeed a bit when I saw her name come up. She did not disappoint.
My favorite bit was the surveillance-by-dancing sequence, although Michael and Fi getting their Mr. and Mrs. Smith on with the cross-body gun fighting at the end is a close second. I was sure they were going to break up or otherwise have some giant fight this time, because it's midseason and they tend to do that around this time, but I was pleasantly surprised. They're still kind of in a holding pattern, but I feel like they're actually going to work it out at some point. (Hmmm. You know, given how close to the vest Michael plays things, and his rather glib manner of saying that he was keeping the rings in case they needed to go undercover again, not for any other purpose, I wonder if they might be setting up an engagement for the season finale. Remember "Bloodlines," when he was purposefully ignoring Fi's condo-hunting and then asked her to move in? I'm getting the same vibe here.)
And Sam and Jesse found the guy who framed Michael and can give him answers! Yeah, I'm sure he can. Those answers will doubtlessly only create further questions. This whole burn notice thing...it's gone well beyond a plot point and into some kind of existential metaphor. It's not the destination, it's the journey, and all that.
I imagine Michael will get out of Pearce's custody with relative ease pretty quickly into next week, but maybe not. We shall see!
