Burn Notice: "Army of One"

Aug 25, 2011 21:17

Hooray! Finally, an episode since "No Good Deed" that wasn't underwhelming. I don't know what it is about this season. Part of it may be that I'm watching them as they air instead of in Netflix-enabled marathons, but mostly it just seems slow-moving and lackluster. The on-going plot has been going nowhere since Max died, and since Michael's time is largely taken up with finding Max's killer, the cases of the week were correspondingly less interesting: way less McGyvering, no outrageous cover identities, not even much in the way of tension. This episode had it all! (Well, okay, maybe "outrageous" would be a stretch to describe the cover ID with, but there was awesomeness from Maddie that more than made up for it!) Everyone got to make something cool out of duct tape this week, I think. Well, almost everyone. And Fi got to taze the computer dude! I know she appreciated that. ;)

Over the past several weeks, at least Pearce has turned out to be reasonably likeable. She doesn't get to do much, but she doesn't actively annoy me like Officer Paxson did.

Next week looks fun. Maybe when they're doing the Mr. and Mrs. Smith back-to-back shooting, Fi can knock some sense into Michael. It's totally in character for him to blithely use his friends to help him find the person who framed in, and part of me can't really blame him, but it's still annoying to watch. And it IS the episode before the mid-season finale, which generally portends a huge fight between Mike and Fi before they make up in the next episode or the one that begins the winter season.
