The shows I watch all had fairly blah outings this week. Boo. Very short thoughts on all of them follow:
Rizzoli & Isles
Oof. Now I remember why I stopped watching this last year. The case was deadly dull, and I dislike babies on general principles. And I love how Maura, a pathologist, can do a C-section with a pocketknife and some towels! On the other hand, it had Maura and Jane bickering at each other in mud baths, so things weren't all bad. Even if they did look weirdly like those Viagra/Cialis/whatever commercials where the couple sits in separate bathtubs on the beach or wherever and tries hard to counteract the fact that the voiceover is talking about SEX OMG CALL THE AUTHORITIES. (Ironic, because really, is there a drug Jane and Maura would need less?)
Unlike approximately the entire rest of the world, I've been liking Angela Rizzoli this season. Her situation has made her into a pathetic character, in the sense of invoking pity, and I do feel bad for her. Plus her trying to take control over her life by bugging her kids is funny, even if it's cliched. But even the amusing yard sale moment (where Maura bought that crappy painting for obscene cash and Jane was obviously telepathically thinking, "I LOVE YOU," at her) couldn't save this episode.
Burn Notice
A definite filler episode, although not the worst they've done. Ethan bugged me, but I liked the springboard he provided for Maddie to talk to Michael about his own past.
I don't dislike Pearce, but I wish they'd chosen to show her being dogged (heh) and pitbullish rather than having her tell Michael she is. Having to boast suggests she's not that great.
Whoever's behind this frameup certainly did their homework! I was absolutely not expecting to see Michael's evil twin walk into that bodega on the security camera footage. (Also, bribing Maddie with a carton of cigs to get her to sift through the footage: genius!)
On the other hand, Jesse (and to a lesser extent Fi) had to be kind of dumb this week, because really, "I'm going to get some air"? Remember "Where There's Smoke," where the millionaire husband said the exact same thing before he did something stupid that nearly ruined the plan? Argh.
Given that Jesse blew up Fi's house last season, I think she should consider the whole shooting a hole in his windshield partial payback. ;)
Fi's remodeling of the loft, and people's comments thereon, provided consistent hilarity, at least. :) Also, "Mrs. Westen." Bwahahaha!
Warehouse 13
Really not fond of Myka's narration/spiel to the Regents at the beginning and end. Please never use that again, show.
Aw, Claudia got to do her first mission! As SENIOR AGENT, by God! Loved her dance. I like her and Jenks together already; I particularly enjoyed the moment at the office where they had the "Kiss-ass"/"You're a child" hand-cough exchange, and of course the Incident In The Car. Best way to come out to your new co-workers ever? Also, Artie not-really-following them was so sweet.
Pete and Myka's story wasn't particularly memorable, but the whole abandonment thing was sort of nice. I think. Like I said, not terribly memorable.
What IS memorable is something Eddie McClintock tweeted earlier this week: [Extremely minor spoiler you probably already know about; highlight to read.] I don't know what's going on here, but
it's grand. Also, it means HG is coming back!
While I'm here, have two links:
Hipster Star Trek - Sadly not updated recently and only has a few macros, but the ones they have are hilarious.
WTF Comcast - Comcast OnDemand listings that are...well...odd.
