Why so many lies?

I hear so many falsehoods about the Green Party, and I don't understand where they come from. I hear things like, they're against same-sex marriage, they're anti-union, they don't advocate for the poor, they want people to vote for the Liberals instead.

Let me tell you something. It's not true. Read their party platform on their website, ferchrissakes, it doesn't say any of those things. Yes, they are partly made up of former Progressive Conservatives, but that's not a bad thing. Why isn't it a bad thing? Because they're the people who had the insight to understand what would happen if they joined the Conservatives. Yes, the Green Party is fiscally conservative, but that is also not necessarily a bad thing: if it is done responsibly and humanely, it will make us all better off in the end, and that is the intention behind their platform.

But here's the really important part: saving the environment from human-caused catastrophe means you have to be environmentally conservative. You must consume less, and produce fewer harmful byproducts.

Also, Elizabeth May never said anyone should vote Liberal instead of Green. She was misquoted and taken out of context, in the typical undemocratic smear campaign fashion that has taken hold of mainstream Canadian politics lately, which is another thing she wants to put an end to. She is quite serious about this, unlike Stephen Harper who will just use that as a means to become Prime Minister and then bitch and moan about sour grapes and break every rule, law and promise that he campaigned on, unlike Jack Layton who will say and do anything to get elected, no matter how undemocratic (Hey Jack, did you forget that NDP stands for New DEMOCRATIC Party?), now matter how outrageous.

I didn't get to see or hear any of the televised debates because I don't own a TV and for some reason CBC Radio wasn't broadcasting them, but what I read of them sounded like May came out the winner both times because she had honest, factual answers to most of the questions that were asked. while the other candidates spun their answers from an ideological point of view, didn't have an answer for anything because they didn't have a campaign platform, or just attacked other candidates with sass because their campaign platform is meaningless rhetoric whose only purpose is to get Jack Layton elected Prime Minister (who knows what he REALLY intends to do should that dream of his ever become reality).
