OOC: Availability Capoeira

Apr 14, 2015 09:17

Anyone following me on Twitter and Facebook is probably already at least somewhat aware that me and 2700 other people in Nova Scotia's film industry are in danger of losing our jobs right now due to the new provincial budget. Hundreds already have, and huge film projects have already left the province, including a Jim Henson production that had been set to start filming this spring. I'm not going to launch into the politics of it here, and this will be the last you hear about it from me via the game itself until I can post again to say, "I'm back!" either because we won or lost and one way or another I don't have to fight this anymore.

I'm going to be scarce. Elsa, Sparkle, Jono, and all are going to be scarce. Nova Scotia's film community, almost three thousand strong, needs to mount a united effort to save our livelihoods right now, and I can't afford to divide my attention between a career that is constantly under attack by two-faced politicians who take a thrill in using the arts as their scapegoats and my favourite happy funtimes game. That isn't to say I won't be around at all, but I certainly won't be around a lot, between rallies and letter-writing campaigns and whatever else Screen Nova Scotia and DANS think up for us to do. Looks like I've been tapped in by one of our studio directors as an unofficial social media guru for the animation community. I apologize in advance for your Twitter feeds and will completely understand any mutes/unfollows that might happen while I navigate this massive shitstorm.

I could use so many kitten and cute bird pictures right now.
