This was a terrible idea, wasn't it? Every little ounce of common sense in Elsa's head screamed that it was, that she'd come all this way without so much as telling her sister (either sister, come to that) that she was doing so. She'd slipped past Gerda and Kai and made her way through the castle without a word, without a sound. She knew exactly where she needed to be.
And once she got there, she wasn't certain she could do it. This had been her mother's. Sitting there on display for her family's eyes only, just waiting for her own coronation. Except... except that she wouldn't wear this one, come her own coronation. She'd figure something out. Maybe she could fashion one out of ice? She'd have enough control to be able to do so, after all. And she could help Anna, her own Anna, to understand why she had locked herself away for so long, and nothing terrible would befall her if she did so. She could finally be honest about everything hat had happened and she wouldn't have to worry for her safety. Everything would be okay again, the way it used to be.
Before she had...
Elsa exhaled a breath she hadn't been aware she was holding, and took the tiara in her hands, reverently lifting it from the cushion it sat on. She remembered this tiara, all too well. Remembered admiring the way it sparkled in the sunlight when it filtered through the window into this very room every time her mother wore it. She swallowed, pulled in another deep breath, and placed a neatly written letter on the cushion where it used to sit before turning around and walking out of the room again. The message was simple. Just an explanation that it was her who had taken it, and she would explain soon, she promised, and it was important. It was so very important.
And it was.
That didn't mean she wasn't crying as she made her way back outside to catch her portal back to Fandom.
