It's high time I up-dated this. Firstly, to everyone who is having a crap time with bad news piling up, the flu going around & ill family members and I hope things start to improve soon. Sometimes when things are bad I just don't know what to say, but I'm thinking of you guys. To those who haven't posted much recently, I hope you are OK. This isn't smarmy talk, I have been wondering how a few of you are getting on.

Now I'm going to abruptly switch from the sad to the frivolous like Cher in 'Clueless'. Did anyone see Jane Austen's marvellous adaptation of the classic 'Clueless' on TV this week? ;-p

We had a spate of buying things all at once in Feb. The biggest purchase was a 'new' car (ex fleet) as our old one badly needed replacing. We also splashed out on more kit for our small business, which has improved things a hell of a lot. We now have two decent computers with an internet connection at home and one of those fax/photocopier/printers in the home office (just as soon as we get it running). The couriers managed to drop computer boxes, bash them around and get them soggy in the rain. Metroglodyte also got a new mobile and I have an excuse to shop for new clothes as jeans, trainers and boots all badly needed replacing at once. I don't shop as much as I'd like to and need to. I plan to chuck out some old clothes this spring/summer and get some new things, including skirts and dresses to be less of a tomboy. I bought some dance trainers last week as I couldn't resist! They look like ordinary trainers, but they have split soles. This week I should get the opportunity to shop in London and I plan to buy a few things - more on that story later.

The teacher at our adult beginner ballet class is going off to do some teacher training, presumably in ballet. I'm not sure if she'll be around for some classes still and if she'll be taking ours. I really hope so as it's hard to imagine anyone else being as good for our class. She's young, fun, friendly and jokes with us, and is also a very good teacher: I've learnt a lot since starting. I began with the last two classes of the summer term and it's a once a week class. A lot of new people joined after Christmas and it's very popular. A new class was created to help cope with the overspill, and next term my class will consequently be called 'Improvers' to differentiate between the newest people! I was a complete beginner but some people have done other kinds of dance, or are ballet returners. I find at the barre (wall ledge in dusty Church hall with sweet wrappers and nails on it) I copy the person in front of me. If they know what they're doing I look good, but if they're also getting left, right, back, front, up and down confused, so will I. It's good for my confidence as I trust more to my own memory of how things go than when I first started.

I was going to do a short theatre costume course in Feb, but didn't bother in the end. I had a course descreiptiuon sheet and I'd done the theatre design short course with the same tutor previously so I could figure out what we'd be covering. I decided I'd be better off doing a straight dress-making type course and I couldn't be bothered to do that either. What I'm really in the mood to do right now is sport and music. I miss netball and hockey! I miss violin and piano!

Our work arrangements are much better, but we still need to tackle a certain few customers who need training. These people think nothing of calling at weekends, nights and holidays, Christmas day and when they know you're on honeymoon. We need to get our phone fixed up so that we can take calls and emails from friends and family but block out the work ones at the weekend. All suggestions and tips on this are very welcome. I've given Dave some suggestions as to what we could do about certain customers, but apparently hanging, the stocks and stoning are no longer legal in this country, except in certain back-waters like Keighley, Ilfracombe & modern day Cherry Hinton.
