List 10 songs that begin with the letter given to you and explain why you picked them. Ask, and I shall give you a letter.
The letter 'T' was given to me by Aerdran.
1) 'Teenage Kicks' - The Undertones. I didn't pick this for any particular reason other than it's a great record beginning with the letter 'T'. My favourite Undertones track of all has to be 'Wednesday Week'. My brother played this album a lot when it was out and I was much younger. It's not the word's greatest album photo, it has to be said. Who cares? - It's a fantastic album. (By the way, Ryokumas, rcords are black shiny things we geriatrics used to play in the olden days :-)
2) 'This ol' heart of Mine' - The Isley Brothers. Again, it has no special personal meaning. It's just a great record that always puts me in a good mood.
3) 'Telstar' - There's nothing like Telstar. This takes me back to when I was little. It's beautiful and ever so slightly spooky. It's vaguely reminiscent of some or other children's cartoon imagery from my childhood I can't quite place, with water and dolphins, or something. It was also riped off for the theme song to something like High Chaperalle. (sp?)
4) 'Town Called Malice' - The Jam. One of their best. Again, no personal special personal meaning. Put it on and everyone in the room reacts.
5) 'Tempted - Squeeze. One of my favourite bands of the 80's and one of my favourite Squeeze tracks ever, if not, my favourite. Great record.
6) (Three is) the magic number - De la Soul. This reminds me of two friends and the three of us hanging out together. This album made such a change from other stuff around at the time. In fact, I might put it on in a bit.
7) 'There's no other way' - Blur. This could have been my anthem for certain times around in 2004-6.
8) 'Tunic' - Sonic Youth. OOhh! Sends shivers down your spine. I remember the Karen Carpenter story film, but haven't seen it in donkey's years.
9) 'The Thin Wall' - Ultravox. I couldn't not include this one, being a big Ultravox fan.
10) 'This one goes out to the one I love' - REM. REM always reminds me of times spent in a certain town in Wales.
Here are some other 'T' songs to go around and around in some people's heads all day until you curse me for it. It's a real eclectic mish mash! These are just the ones I came up with yesterday afternoon. - Ready?
