So my grandparents left for El Salvador yesterday. Which marked the end of my hectic week. I was finally able to rest from rushing around to getting last minute gifts for family members back in E.S. and planning my grandmother's surprise birthday party. Her birthday was really yesterday but since their flight left at 9:25am, we celebrated it on Saturday. All week I've been ultra busy juggling work, midterm exam, class, taking my grandparents to get their new passports *since they lost it at customs when they came*, and birthday prep. I forgotten that I had bought presents for my little cousins (my youngest uncle's daughters) during Christmas as well, so my grandma told them (one's 7, the other's 3 y.o.) that I gotten some Princess dolls as well. As soon as they got home, the little one, Allison, went crazy digging through their luggage trying to find the dolls, and in her attempt to open another one, she belly flopped.

I haven't gone back to visit in almost 10 years, so that's 10 years that my paternal grandfather hasn't seen me. I'm going for two weeks in the summer, b/c my grandfather turned 80 in October, he's not getting younger. I'm not trying to sound pessimitic but he doesn't have much time left. I rather see him alive then when he's passed on. My sis wants to go if I go, and I wanted to take my two little girl cousins, Jenni & Daniela (I doubt Elsy would let Christopher or Luisito go-besides I'm not made of money). I told Jenni, and she immediately said she'd go with me, but Daniela was hesistant and later said she'd stay with her mom. It wasn't until we were in the airport that she changed her mind and said she wanted to go. Daniela's never gone to El Salvador. She says she has, she said she was a baby went she went. We all say she's gone in dreams. Jenni was like 3 y.o. when she went, so that was 5 years ago.
I wonder if my uncle & his family will be here by then. I know they are due to have their interview at the embassy anytime now, according to their lawyer.

I wished I could have done with you guys to the beach but I was stuck at the consulate waiting for my grandmother's passport. I think besides when gatherings at my uncle's or aunt's houses or when I've gone to El Salvador, that's been the first time I've been in the same room with that many salvadorans.

grandparents, trip, birthday, el salvador
